    Nicely done video Stripey. One big continuity gaffe occurs just before the nunchuks sequence. When Bruce has his back to the bars, he hits Billy Chan (who gets the axe in the back in the Big Boss). Billy staggers away and falls on the floor. Then Bruce is confronted by the other guards, one who pulls the nunchuks apart. But he changes to Billy who attacks Bruce and then gets disarmed.

    I think the speed obsession isn’t just in the martial arts, it can be in music too. Like when lots of people think playing the violin really fast is often more difficult than playing slower but more expressive. Personally, I appreciate a poetic expression of movement or music rather than just in awe of sheer speed.

    Hi Stripey. I checked the beach fight in ' The Way of the Dragon' when Bruce does that superfast kick to Whang in Sik and then kicks him in the face knocking him to the floor. If you look in the background, Uncle Wang is running towards the camera. His physical running speed looks normal, not jerky or sped up which shows the camera was not over cranked. Bruce often tried to slow his moves down on the set of the Green Hornet and his number one son screen test clearly shows his hand speed was incredible - as well as his kicks. At that was in the mid 1960's! So fast forward to the seventies imagine how much faster he was then. A lot of people who dont or have never trained in martial arts dont realise how super fast these people can be in real life. I knew a British Taekwondo champion and his kicking speed was incredibly quick - and very powerful. Blink and you would miss it.

    That's what I always look for and I did the same as you have done. I checked that scene years ago and noticed Uncle Wang running at normal speed in the background. It's always a dead give away if the background people are walking fast. I don't know what to think about the front and hook kick to Bob Wall though as it always looks slightly speeded to me, but then again, when I look at the dust coming up from the floor and the trees blowing, they look normal to me, but yes, the Charlie Chan screen test in 1965, shows his unusual speed even then and the camera was filmed at normal speed. 👍👍

Everyone will have an opinion, some people do think they know it all, especially when it comes to Bruce, the problem with opinions is that people try and change others opinion with theirs. That last commenter doesn't want to worry. If Bruces reputation can't be ruined by the drug letters, then a camera being milliseconds faster wont do it😂😂.Great stuff from Paul Davis. Great videos. I enjoy your channel very much. My 2 cents, having been in the film biz since the late 70s (mainly in animation and special effects) and working in actual film formats: you cannot adjust film speed in editing, unless you run it through an optical printer and skip, or duplicate frames. It is very apparent when you do so. You can only adjust film speed in-camera. From the behind-the-scenes photos and film clips I've seen from ETD, looks like they shot the action scenes with multiple cameras. They probably set these cameras to different speeds so they would not only cover the action from different angles, but have the action either slightly speed up or slowed down. In addition, they probably another camera way over-cranked to get slo-mo shots. This gives editorial a wide variety to work with and choose from in post. Keep up the great work.

    I’m a huge Bruce Lee fan for nearly 30 years. I’ve been of the opinion that many scenes in all of the Bruce Lee films have been speeded up. Yes Bruce was exceptionally fast and you cannot take that away from the man but there is clearly footage that has been manipulated to enhance the speed of the action. The fight between Bruce and Bob Wall is one example….

  • @topcats78

    @topcats78

    I dont think the O'hara fight was speeded up. If you slow it down you will actually see Bruce doing a wing chun hand trap while at very the same time he punches Bob Wall. Its so fast you miss it at normal speed. Bruce's punch speed was an eighth of a second.

    Yeah, they might of slowed down the master shot because they had to make it appear like it was different from the close up, if they were both the same speed, it would of looked too similar, I have an animation background, and I have studied figures and animals in motion for years and believe it or not, Bruce Lee, Michael Jackson, amazing movers like that, I have been inspired by for years now. Without question, all the other movements of Bruce Lee are often hyper fast, and easily similar to the 2nd close up shot.

It’s been 50 years. ‘Enter The Dragon’ is still for ME the best martial art movie of all time. I agree. It's still one of my favourite fight scenes in Bruce's films. Enjoy the weekend, bud 👍

    @@StripeyR After watching more of your videos I saw that you made posters and sold t-shirts at one point. If you ever sell them again on eBay or whatever, I’d be very interested in buying one for each of his films. Those designs are beautiful!

    Stripey brother, you are not bringing down the memory of Bruce. Like many of us, you are seeking the real truth of Bruce Lee, while giving massive love and respect to his skill, artistry and all he achieved!

    You could be the ultimate expert in Bruce Lee and still you get arseholes like lonewolfdrb claiming that he's spoken to this person or that person, we don't have proof that he's actually spoken to these people, & most likely spoken to the briefly at a convention for a couple of minutes. Even the top scientists in the world will get called out for being wrong by internet "experts". So carry on doing excellent work, & discovering new things & sharing your discoveries about Bruce Lee.

    Way to go with the name calling. Love the haters who creep around someone they don’t know. You would be surprised if you knew who I know. Actually there are pics and video of me with Jim Kelly and many other martial artists. Anyway enjoy your life, I know I do when I’m traveling all over the world meeting actual knowledgeable people. I have to laugh at you poor saps who are desperate to fit in.
