I like how Brock never really beats up 21 and 24. I think he likes those guys, I know I do they're the coolest henchmen!

Brock's secret rule: don't kill what can't kill you. If they're helpless and in over their head, just scare 'em off or knock 'em out. It's when they're a threat to Brock that he kills them first.

You realize Brock would've died if Dr. Venture actually got that to work. But imagine if it actually did work and it was just on toy mode so it didn't hurt while he just needed to switch the mode to kill.

@@jayjay86443 Let's not get hasty. Gary's got doubly-strong plot armor now - he inherited 24's. Aside from that, Brock can't/won't kill Gary because he's grown to respect the fact that he's bettered himself, and in the "everything's about failure" world this series takes place in, that's admirable. Brock could still end him *easily* if Gary gave him a good reason, though.

@@pbdye1607 Fair point. I just think compared to season 1, Brock got nerfed. For example, he can go toe to toe with Red Death now, but back in the Mandelay days, Brock would just demolish him, especially for punking his ass with that Pyramid War staging. It's like comparing current Broly to back-then Broly. Sure technically they have the same destructive power, but that doesn't mean they use it the same way. You have to REALLY piss Brock off now to bring him back to Mandelay mode, whereas S1 Brock had it as a theme song.

I love every part of the the "21 and his lightsaber" fantasy. Even the parody "fat kid with the lightsaber" movement's, which you would pull off NO better if the thought in your head was, "well this thing could burn off any one of my digit's or limbs," as you hurled it around. "I've been gypped!" The perfect ending to the perfect ruined fantasy, lol

He probably treated it like it was a lightaaber and like he was a true a jedi so he didn't treat it as a toy.

Great show. Very well done. Pays homage to comics, great TV shown and cartoons from the 60s, 70s and 80s and all the other things that made growing up in those eras great.

Weird how much older 24 is in comparison to 21, yet 21 is always comes off as the older of two.

Brock's expression after 21's....."display" always kills me.

0:02 Hate-Bit, one of only three survivors of the infamous Movie Night Massacre on Gargantua 1, just a background character.

Fun fact lightsabers had settings on them to turn up or lower the heat settings so when younglings practiced they wouldn't cut off limbs.

I only just realised that Brock's probably seen this thing more than once, might even have messed around with it, so has complete certainty it doesn't work.

Anyone else notice "Hate-Bit" (the guy in purple) at 0:02, was directly involved in the movie night massacre where Jonas Sr. died

A lot of villains show up in the background before they become actual characters. St. Cloud, Hate Bit, Prof Impossible, etc etc. Sgt. Hatred makes a background appearance and also gets name dropped by Hank before he's properly introduced in the season 2 finale. Oh also every OSI/Sphinx agent appears in a promo video before they were given names

I've been gypped is one of my favorite lines in the show... 1:39

The animation did improve in later seasons but it was always decent.

i love this show

I find it so cool you can see so many future characters in the beginning scene. You can see Hate-Bit which was one of the guys one Red Deaths heist team and St. Cloud

I don’t know why I never realized that that 21 and 24 are probably like 10-20 years apart in age.

Brock going ham on Plug Face was hilarious and he didnt even do anything.

12 years later, and this shit is still funny.

Okay, two theories: 1. Rusty mentioned that he originally tried to sell it to Kenner Toys, so it's not meant to be a weapon. 2. It's Brock Fucking Samson and his muscles are like Kortosis, a metal in Star Wars that repels lightsaber energy

To be fair, Doc did say it was a toy.

He let them off easy because he thought it was hilarious.

I want them to give the current 21 a real lightsaber and just see him go to town on some fodder

Brilliant~! Brock rocks, but 21's epic in his own right.

There's something about watching the plug faced guy get his prongs bent by Brock's punches that just cracks me up.

Two things I thought when I saw this scene. Firstly, there was no way if that thing worked that either Brock or even Hank would not have chaimed it. And second, Brock knew that it didn't work as intended and just pitied scared them, which proved to me at least that he tried to use it and it didn't go as he wanted and he just shooed them away in a combination of pity in lot of life, shame of being scamed and knowing the disappointment of the flashlight.

And years later, 21 and Brock teamed up to fight Monstroso....man, 21 got a massive upgrade.

Of course Brock knows all the super science geeky stuff here so he probably knew the lightsaber was a flashlight.

That explains how St. Cloud got all that Venture stuff.

Rusty also refers to St. Cloud as his "best customer". Seeing as he doesnt really invent anything worth a damn in the first couple of season, it can be assumed that Rusty gets his funding by selling stuff Jonas made to St. Cloud.

It would set the wielder on fire. Magma will ignite you within 6 feet or less. Lightsaber is way hotter. To say nothing of how hot the housing (hilt) would get over time. 🎵Science ruins everything!🎵

I can just imagine Brock stumbling across it when no one was looking and trying it out himself, only to learn it wasn't functional like a "real" lightsaber. I can already hear his scream of irritation and being denied a lightsaber.

If doc was smart he he will make them special order for super Rich nerds. I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of millionaire and billionaires who would kill to have their own personal lightsabers even if they're just for show.

Ah, the days when 21 was basically an older, fatter version of early Hank working for the, heh, "bad guys." Nowadays Hank doesn't even resemble how he was in the early seasons...

To be fair, Brock has to write reports on the Venture family to the OSI, so he probably already knew that the lightsaber was useless.

@@deadturret4049 That's true, but it's not like Brock is aware of everything in the Venture Compound since at some point all the Sphinx Gear was moved there and he had no idea. Not to mention the Cloning Labs which existed before Rusty moved in, was used while Rusty was moved in and yet it remained a secret from the OSI for years.

@@maylabrown4584 Rusty showed the cloning lab to Brock when he was first assigned as a bodyguard. Also the Sphinx gear was most likely moved in after Brock quit the OSI. Brock was living with Sasquatch for a few months and gained quite a bit of weight, so Sphinx had a window of possibly several months.

I doubt that, the Sphinx equipment being moved there part i mean since Rusty had that space rented out already and before Brock left he told Gary that it was paid up for a month.

@@maylabrown4584 That space wasnt rented out before Brock left. Like halfway through season 4, a year after Brock left the OSI, Rusty tries to rent out the manufacturing wing to Billy and Pete. Sphinx was freeloading until they got caught, which explains what Brock said to 21. S3E2 has the manufacturing wing being occupied by Killenger's Venchmen, so Sphinx had to move in after that episode. Considering Hunter, Shore Leave, and Sky Pilot were nowhere near the venture compound during the final 3 episodes of S3, and neither the Monarch crew or Sgt Hatred saw anything while at the empty venture compound; the only time where could Sphinx could move in without somebody noticing is during the time skip. That being said, Sphinx likely existed in some form during the S3 finale, as Shore Leave and Sky Pilot reference their time together when talking about sacrifices they made while working for Sphinx im S4, and Hunter's sex change was done to infiltrate the black hearts.

I would do the exact same thing as 21 did 😂

At 0:51 you can actually see the lightsaber going through the parasol. Either an animation error or masterclass foreshadowing, or both!
