It's a tradeoff: S4 has moore mobility, 4Trak has full metal construction (durability), S4 has more facilitated timecode hookup (for using timecoded vinyl, etc.), 4Trak has nicer platters. I also like how the 4Trak is a bit bigger than most controllers, gives it a very professional and cool feel. For me, metal construction is a must, so the 4Trak is better, but it depends on the person. Also the layout is different especially with effects so look at the layout of both and then make your decision

Thought i'd say my oppinion as kosmicmi hasn't answerd. I recently bought the 4trak and i couldn't be happier with it. As your question about traktor or serato i would go for traktor after what you play! I like Traktor best and i think serato is more for hip-hop mixing. I would rather go for the 4trak then the ddj-t1.

its the platter protectors from the factory. When you receive the controller you remove the blue plastic and toss it out

I'd say 4Trak. Had a mental war myself, ended up on 4Trak. Quality and way better platters. Customable for what you miss.

its not a blue platter is scratch protective plastic on it. you see the red tab on them its for easy removal.

got my 4trak last week.is very cool,however i do have trouble after about 30 mins of play the left deck will start give off a static kind of sound .when i unplug the efx usb then it will reset...??? any suuggestions?/ thanks

pre-fade cue light monitor on every channel is missing for each cue is missing which is important to every dj mixing, its only showing the master light level and you cant easily see the level of each channel correctly and theres no sampler built in and no memory banks built-in

I would like to know as reference from you guys for a beginners what you can recommend to start DJ as controller, I have a decision to make and is Numark MIXTRACK PRO DJ or the Traktor s2, I know there is someone asking for advised on the S4 and the 4 Track from Numark, but as beginner I do not want to spend $1,000 or $1,200 because that kind of money I do not have to spend and I know is worth it but at the moment I am on the budget.

Yes I see what youre saying but for beginners like me that arent even at the legal age to get into night clubs this is out of my league. I recently picked up the Numark Mixtrack for only $150 and while I dont have Traktor I find it awesome for Virtual DJ Pro. Ive been in the market for cheap Traktor controllers but even the s2 is like $400.

On NI forums I see Traktor Kontrol S4 has loads of complaints on Windows users for latency and NI hasn't done much to help them, does Numark 4Trak suffer from similar latency issue on Windows?
