Graham! Nice to see this car after all this years! It was the first healey 100 I drove in my life, at the autojumble in Beaulieu. You had to post a brick behind the driver seat, so that I could reach the pedals for a ride in the parking lot. Later on, we had a few drinks with John Chatham and my german friends Thomas and Jochen in a bar nearby. John, I met at the European Healey Meeting in Norway this Summer. I was there with own Healey 100 and a friend with his ex Speedwell Racing Sprite. Cheers Francis (Franz-Josef)

Terrific story well told and put together! I was the Guy who 'slithered' into the ditch and I'm pleased to say that despite that little event, Graham is still my old mate! I still have my 3000 MK 11 'Tri', acquired from a conversation in the pub with Graham and confirm NUE 552 has never looked better running through the rural roads of Cephalonia. Congrats, Brad, you will go far in this field!

I owned NUE 852 in my misspent youth. Bitterly regret letting it go now, but then I traded it in for a Morgan +4 which seemed like a good idea at the time. In 1968 you could see immaculate 100Ms advertised for £250! A college friend had a BN2 Le Mans. Was offered a damaged BN2 Le Mans with a 3.4 litre Jaguar XK engine but being a student couldn't afford to carry out the work yet alone the time.

Simply wonderful. There is no more magical thing that driving a Healey. I was 20 when I hitched a lift from Lesmahagow services to Chiswick in a 3000Mk1. I said to Jim Symington that I'd buy one one day. 4 years later I did. Jim came to my Wedding. 25 years later I still own my 3000Mk1. The BOA. All Healey's have a story. Hugh.

Remember all those times visiting the Isle of Wight and drinking in the Farmers Arms up at Carisbrooke I had the Green 100 at the time and followed it with another 100 I built to M spec have now got a 3000MKII built as one of the Sebring cars

Great inspirational story- you have done it. The Life in an Austin Healey. I too have a 65 MKiii, got it from a shipmate back in 1978. it has been in the garage since 80 but putting it back together as I write. I also have 2 TR6, and MGB rdstr wire wheels and OD. I have been retired since 2008 and I have neglected working on my cars. Hopefully , I can get the engine back sometime before the end of the year. I live in San Diego ca, the weather is always great, perhaps I can get off my tail and get it on the road, perhaps a trip to the wine country North of San Fransisco . Again , thanks for sharing your story - question ? I s your son getting the car? My grandson wants mine.

I might create a part two to this film, documenting the life my father had with his boat. Not as old as the Healey, but a 25yr ownership and many tribulations in thst time.

@Brad Foster.......Really enjoyed watching your video and listening to your heart-warming reminiscences - was a proud 100/4 [BN1] owner myself although sadly my car ended up as scrap. [long story!] I also knew John Wheatley quite well as we were practically neighbours - I lived in Droitwich back then and John was literally 'just down the road' in Fernhill Heath on the A38 to Worcester. A wonderful man and as you state in your video - an exceptional resource. [I vividly remember sitting in John's living room, sipping coffee with him whilst poring over countless photo albums of OOM 552 and other 100/4's from all over the world. I must admit, the car that particularly caught my eye was the notorious 100/S 'proto-type' NOJ 393. John graciously and patiently related the entire 'story' of the car as I had absolutely no knowledge of its part in the 'Le Mans Disaster' of 1955. [much of John's recollections were based on his actual conversations with Geoffrey Healey - who was Healey team manager on that fateful day]. Even now, it still astonishes me the time John took telling a 20-something 'newbie' like myself about these fantastic little cars. Sadly and as you are probably aware, John passed away a few years ago. But I am sure his family will continue to treasure OOM 552 as John did. On another note, I was especially interested in your mention of your trips to Le Mans - and taking a group of Healey 100 owners to the famous race. In fact, I knew of these events and with a couple of fellow 100/4 owners from Harrow, we had always planned to join them! Regrettably, it never happened. Thanks again for sharing yours and your lovely car's story!

If you ever go with the Healys, let me know, maybe ill tag along. :)

@@FosterMedia ......Hi Brad - thanks for your reply and hope you are well? Yes, it was always on my 'Bucket List' of things to do - drive my Healey all the way through France to see the 'Le Mans 24-hour Race'. Sadly and as I mentioned previously, I lost my Healey so never got the chance. However, I thought you might be interested to hear the story of my 2 'Healey mates' who actually DID get to make the trip? As I said, they also had 100/4's and although I can't remember all the details [it was a L-O-N-G time ago now!] this is a reasonably accurate account. They told me that as they drove their cars through France so many people would stop and talk to them, take photos etc and want to know all about the cars. One evening they stopped in a small French town for something to eat. As they were parking, an elderly but wealthy-looking gentleman approached them and engaged them in conversation about their cars. From talking with the man, my friends quickly realised he knew a lot about 1950's/60's sportscars and seemed very familiar with British marques. After chatting with him for a while, the man asked my friends if they would like to see something 'interesting' and invited them to his 'house'. My friends agreed and followed him to his house - which they said should be more accurately described as a mansion! The man then led them to a large garage located to the side of the house and opened the doors. Inside was an immaculate metallic ice-blue, two-seater convertible sportscar. My friends said they had never seen anything like it before - and I must admit, when they showed me photos of it, I hadn't either. It was quite angular in design, with a long bonnet and slight fins at the rear end. As they pored over it, the man asked if they knew what it was. My friends hadn't a clue. He casually informed them that it was an E-type Jaguar proto-type! He then opened up the bonnet to reveal the beautiful 3.8 six-cylinder Jaguar engine, transmission and other Jaguar mechanics. He explained that when Jaguar were designing the E-Type they commissioned a number of 'styling houses' to come up with the body design. I can't exactly remember which Italian 'styling house' they approached [I think it was Giugiaro - but am not certain?] And this was the car they designed. There was only one car ever produced and this was it! Of course we all know now that Jaguar eventually went with their own design genius' [Malcolm Sawyer] vision and the rest is history as they say. My friends were gobsmacked and couldn't believe their eyes. The man allowed them to take photos of the car [and of himself sitting inside it] before they left. They had a wonderful time at 'Le Mans' but was very possibly the highlight of the entire journey. Anyway Brad, thanks again and would be great to chat with you if you have time? [do you have Facebook, Skype or Telegram - it would be easier that way?] Cheers - Laurie

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the GPP / Green Peoples Party and FFF gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now these green heroes want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions- and smoke crime :-( :-(
