Ancient Egypt grew from the south not the North! Pre-kerma and Kerma sites are contemporary with predynastic and the old kingdom. Pan-graves, A-group, C-group, Khartoum mesolithic, Gash group, Jebel Mokram,...all these cultures crossed and overlaped from the beginning! Egypt is a bonafide african kingdom just like Nubia.

Plus Punt, which is south of Nubia, is very similar culturally and linguisticly to Egypt. Even the Egyptians believed they were related to them. And may have even been decended from them. So yes, Egyptian civilization came from the south.

Great video! It could potentially get a sequel about the kingdoms of Nobatia, Makuria and Alodia, which continued the legacy of ancient Nubia.

First of all, there was nothing forgotten about Sudanese kingdoms on the Nile. Forgotten by who? The Bible has references to Kush because there was no place called "Nubia" in ancient times. The Bible also has references to the Queen of Sheba as an black African Queen as well, which also is a reference to North East Africa and Arabia. In ancient times the term for Africa was Ethiopia and you have references to Ethiopia in the works of the Persians, Greeks, Romans and others talked of the various groups on the Upper Nile during their time. So who forgot about these people? Also, there was no place called "Egypt" either because that is the Greek term not the native term. The native term was "Kemet", meaning the black nation, black country or black place. So obviously the ancient people of the dynastic era did not see "black" as a foreign concept.

This is wrong. Nubia is the name of the region that is the northern Nile Valley. Nubia was never a name of a kingdom or Empire. The modern people of northern Sudan and southern Egypt termed 'Nubians' by Westners are descendants of people of Ta-Seti, Upper Egypt, Kerma, Naqata etc. There was never a kingdom called Nubia. Just as there was never a State or Kingdom called West or Caribbean. Lastly, the people of Nubia were the same as the population of Upper Egypt and Northern Sudan / Ta Seti / Kerma.

I don't know where you are getting this information from. The people of Egypt and Nubia were not the same and were both a mix of different cultures and they both developed along different lines. Also while they never referred to themselves as Nubians, that is the term they are known by today. So for reference that is how I refer to them. Also, I mention the kingdoms of Kerma, etc. in the video. You clearly did not watch it before making this comment.

@@ChronologyCast Egypt and Nubia are not the equivalent of each other. Egypt was a kingdom, a State ruled by a Pharoah. Nubia was a region that included southern Egypt (ancient and modern Egypt) and Northern Sudan. There were various Kingdoms in Nubia. The earliest civilisation of that region is Nabta Playa extending to south east Libya. It evidences the earliest domestication of cattle, the pharounic culture later practiced in Ta Seti evolving into Egypt and Kush. Other kingdoms of Nubia are Ta Seti, Naqata, Kush etc

Good video but your audio is really letting it down. First and most importantly, never play music with lyrics while you're narrating! It clashes and makes your narration even more difficult to follow. It probably would have been best to play a short instrumental clip in the beginning of the video and then faded out and go to straight narration. The next most important thing would be to get a proper microphone with a pop filter and find a better location to record in. It doesn't have to be fancy, your closet or your car would make an enormous difference. You should try to keep your mouth as close to the microphone as possible, also use a high pass filter or at least roll off some of the low end on the microphone so it doesn't sound muffled. Finally you really need to be more aware of the volume and length of your sound effects. Your voice should be louder than everything else. Also you should probably trim that sword clash sound effect, it only needs to be about half as long. It doesn't have to be Dan Carlin level of quality, but clearer and more intelligible narration would transform the quality of your videos. Please don't take this as an insult, I respect the hard work you put into these. I'm genuinely trying to help you make your videos better.

The Egyptian and Nubian people, while holding similar cultures as they developed along with trade, were both two distinct peoples, with many other ethnic and cultural groups living in their respective empires.

@@msg360 I see where you are coming from, but the United States has a very general way of looking at people. One of those is to look at an entire region and assign them to one group or the other. Culturally, regionally, historically, ect., the Nubian and Egyptian people were both different from one another. To group them in as the same people, but just from different "tribes" doesn't do it justice.

It's important to use indigenous names and terms, Nubia or Nubian is considered a racist term, just like how Berber is considered racist since it means Barbarian, something similar in Sudan, don't call them Nubians it is racist

the attached blurb about rome is nonsense. Roman republic lasted from 509 BC to 27 BC and the Empire from 27 BC to 476 AD. that equals 985 years and then the eastern roman empire lasted another 1000 years after the fall of rome. During the video he says that Meroe was abandoned in 350 AD over 250 years after the fall of the western roman empire. That is nonsense - the western roman empire collapsed in 476 AD.

The fall of the Western Roman Empire began in 395 CE. I agree with the 350 CE point being off, and I have checked my script, I do not know why that was stated, I apologize for the inconvenience. However the point is not nonsense all together. The longevity of Nubia outlasted that of even Rome, without counting the Byzantine Empire, which I was not.
