Incredible win. Pure guts from the Storm. One of the best defensive efforts from them in years. Defended their errors and penalties, and kept coming back for more. I have been saying for a while that defense wins premierships and doing this to the best attacking side from last year was brilliant. Panthers were impressive defensively as well, however, holding Storm to just a single try off a kick.

You know we all wanna see a game with a bunch of tries but this is one of the best games I’ve seen in a while. Just watching the storm seem to organize/materialize that incredible defence was really something. Wow what a great game of football

No. That's not the reason they didn't give it. They didn't say it was a forward pass or they didn't say player hit ball to strong to the ground which makes no sense. They said Luai interfered with the defensive line preventing them to cover the attacker. Dude, I'm a Storms fan but I like to be objective about the game. That was a Penrith try. What made me happy was the BS penalty calls that went against the Storm early on, last year Penrith scored from. Not so that night. Storm defence was a premiership level defence@@kirksdva8310

That win hurt but full credit to Storm, their defence was fantastic. Panthers had way too many handling errors and really struggled to get through the Storm defence. Well done Storm, well deserved win and really pleased Paps came through unscathed, fingers x he has a good season, just not too good thanks.

Im not even a Storm fan, but Xavier Coates in the second half defended their line and made sure Panthers had no chance to score. Well done.

Great gutsy effort from storm to get the win. Nowhere near the execution the first 2 games had. The droped ball was ridiculous

Melbourne's defence was unbelievable 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Their forwards were outstanding, captain Harry Grant 44 tackles, Xavier Coates saving a potential try 3:36 when he had two teammates down cramping. Melbourne are back. It was such an entertaining match.

What this doesn't show is the Panthers Incredible attack. and Storms Resilient defense. this had a finals feel to it.

Storms centres and winger pairings has to be the tallest in nrl history..Meany, Smith, Coates and Warbrick

Was backing the Panthers, but that Storm defence was just too good. Mistakes made by both teams, silly mistakes, but I guess that comes with the territory of playing hard and fast. Bravo to both teams for playing the full 80. Was a fun watch.

I have followed Panthers style of Playing for a long time . Today was a different team playing. The passing was poor. No plan at times. When the Ball is in the air near the goal line they stand around. Panthers has to change this team around quick. Also learn to jump high for the ball or else the Melbourne boys will clean you out again. Goodluck Next time. There was an earth Quake Too . after the Game at Penrith Town.

Contrary to popular belief, Penrith haven't been a good attacking side in years. They just pile on points once they wear the other team out. If you look at their total points in the first half of games in the last few years, its alarmingly underwhelming... Not that it matters, their defence has made up for it.

that is very true. Their attack was at its best 4 years ago and they've lost a lot of their strike over the years(Burton, Api, Kikau,Chricton).

That defense is the Kevin Walters effect...

I didn't catch the whole game, but some of the best games are low scoring ones imo..

That obstruction call is daft. A defensive decision to come in and he's not obstructed. It is Hughes's decision that causes a defensive shortness. Catching it on the inside shouldn't apply in situations like this.

If Storm continue to play like this this season, they will be there at the end. I hope the Panthers are not, they have had their glory, time for another team to break through and shine

Obviously, because Panthers won, the better team won on the day, but not the better team during the whole season, so it was tough to lose, but that is not the reason why I would like to see another team win this year. Just would like to see a more even spread and a more interesting final

I'm a Panthers fan & it sucks that we didn't get the win but Storm definitely showed up to play that's for sure .. If Penrith didn't drop the ball every play we might have had a chance 😂😂 Plenty of good things though & it's only round 1.. We lost round 1 last year & won minor premiership & GF 🤷‍♂️

Trust me as a long time Panthers fan we have played much worse than that over the years. To be honest we generally start the season slow. I agree this was poor, very poor and if we continued like that through the year it would mean the spoon for us but it's round one so let's just see what happens. Been some big upsets already this round but yes Panthers need to improve. Good game though.

The NRL interpretation of obstruction is out of control. Comes about through media pressure and bunkerized refereeing. You need to be suffering from an obsessive compulsive disorder to be a modern NRL ref. Thirty years ago, nobody goes searching for obstruction on that play. Wasn't an issue.

The scoreline definitely doesn't reflect the full story of that game. Everything went the Storms way in shutting down the Panthers attack even when the Panthers got the ball across the line. You won't see that too often.

Panthers ain’t gonna get a fourth this year. Teams have worked them out.

Overcomming fatigue and gutsing it out is what the game of League does better than any other team sport. That is why League management should never entertain the idea of four quarters.
