It's only a matter of time before these guys are replaced by a word processor orchestra from Cambridge.

I just recently bought an old tsarist era underwood in my post soviet country. They might not have been in office use, but were highly valued for samizdat, or illegal literature copying, because all store-bought typewriters were listed and font checked by the kgb. So the underground people sought out presoviet typewriters or brought them when they had some chance to visit Poland or Czechs.
The smashing of the instruments at the end is legendary..Fans often shower them in white out.

I stumbled upon this randomly and no regrets. this was the best thing I've seen in a while. it is weird and artsy and I am here for all of it

🤔... You mean stayed late at work to explore the "closet of obsoletes" ?
i moved my typewriter out of frustration like that in the 80’s, not for creating music, but to almost throw it out of the window, then all the keys unlocked

I worked in IT support for some time, and when I had someone too emotive on the phone telling me they had already done everything to make it work, I just told them "go to your PC, unplug all cables, grab it with both hands... and throw it out of the window." A few of them were incredulous, even asked "Are you serious?"
It's like watching hardcore rock music go down at a library. 🤘

The most amazing thing about this is that someone said hey what if we were to use typewriters to make music and 3 other guys were like yes lets do it! Sounds amazing!

My guess would be typewriters
that B part is sick, a real highlight when adter the second time it happens it transitions into the fully percussive C part with the table friction-squeaking just for the melody of the B part to come back in on top… awesome

You're hired. Monday 9AM in the large conference room.
I'm old enough to have used manual typewriters for realz, and I always loved the technology. I'm so happy they've found a new, most excellent career!
I love how this exudes vibes of pure 90's nerdiness
MTV's "Unplugged" was meant for these guys.
Imo this kind of performance is absolutely perfect for Tiny Desk, good luck fellas 🫡

Just the type of music I was looking for.
In the 1960's my high school typing class would have had a lot more guys if they would have let us do that.
It’s like STOMP, but with fingers.

This should be mandatory played background music during EVERY newscast of NPR!
I can't believe this is the sound we've been missing all these years.
This is the greatest. The table squeak method, science is now complete.
I really was hoping they played Black Sabbath's Electric Funeral on these typewriters...

As a former typewriter repair technician, I approve of this application of these classic machines.

I have officially seen it all now!
This song plays eternally in the heads of those who get PTSD from the christmas rush at office.
This rules in every single fucking way. Then again I work on the print edition of newspapers.
Well, I have a new favorite band now, I didn't think that would happen today. I hope they tour!
It's got a ring to it
Love the squeaky noise..This is the best. Love it.
An enjoyable and interesting performative experience. I doubt I would be as interesting in merely the audio alone without the spectacle.
