Let me introduce you to the forbidden vehicle strat on Strait: Whistler (Armada) spam. They have 600 range, missiles that hit both ground and air - which lock on to targets, and they can shoot while moving - just like bots. They're really good in small choke points since they need lots of mass to do work. They out-range almost all t1 units, but their mobility and kiting makes them superior. When pushing with them, you want to kite and bait your opponents into range of your llts. They drop off pretty hard against t2, but you should be able to guarantee a frontline advantage until 12 minutes

the annoying bit with those is they have enough vision range to be their own spotters, they don't do much damage, but they add up quickly into a problem

Artillery vehicles counter them pretty hard. They're too slow to move out of the way when you have lots of them.

I used the equivalent units to kite endlessly in Total Annihilation ~25 years ago lol.

This channel is so good for learning the game, thank you Drongo. Have you considered doing replay analysis with over-explanations of noobie games to point out common mistakes that new players make? I'm sure people would contribute some replays if you asked. You could even revive the old Noobie Tuesday / Funday Monday thing that Day[9] patented back in the heyday of SC2. I hope this game takes off. It's so fun, but hard to learn.
Jaguars are great for raiding, but if your frontline is pressured, consider the Mauser with radar bot and jammer. Just remember to give them the fight command going forward, so they keep their front gun pointed forward.

DivineEvil here. Yes, Mausers are easy to spam as long as you have the energy upkeep and they obliterate everything in their path safe for more expensive tanky T2s. Jaruars you usually want when there's too much Fiend spam going about. And yes, do not turn Mausers around ever - you'd better get their value in additional damage than saving few units of T1 metal value. You'd often see Hounds being rushed into them and expecting them to turn around, and when it doesn't happen Hounds falter. Vehicles are overall far superior to Bots in their frontline value, which is why I have played Only frontline vehicles for over a month. If you need Rezbots, its better to buy them from other players.

Only problem with that strat is that Mauser are easily pushed. You need a teammate backing you up or a lot of static defense.

@@xFlazz Ummm, not really. They can be *rushed* with some fast units, but the prospect of forcing them back is slim. Amass something like a 20 Mauser firing line with radar, and it will be a force that pushes, not being pushed. Add to that a couple of Blitzi and Stouts remaining from T1 in front of them, and its actually a force to be reckoned with. Static defense' main advantage is range, and it is ill-advised for Mauser support - instead just add some T1 units as mobile meat shield instead.
Tip: Build 1 rover (T1 vehicle scout, 31 metal) to give 635 vision (outranges even heavy laser towers 500 vision/620 range) for artillery (710 attack range). Very cost-effective, no need/dependence for allies to risk their tanks. Pro Tip: Keep a spare and replenish target stock of 2 rovers as necessary.
You were too conservative on your construction vehicles both T1 and T2. Each one adds significant build power and in a way that is different from the bot build power; you're acclimated to how long it takes the construction bots to walk from order to order, but you're not acclimated to how fast the vehicles get from order to order and how fast they build those orders. The overflows that you have around 6 to 12 minutes in are the direct result of underestimating effective future build power from when you threw down your T1 vehicle lab and started building units. I like to think of the different kinds of units as intervening tiers, so there's T1 and T2 and T3, but bots are the bottom of T1 with vehicles being marginally closer to T2. Basically at T1, bots At T2, bots Also worth noting that the T2 construction vehicle is better than construction towers (250 vs 200) and is highly mobile. The construction engineers are slightly worse in terms of build power (150 vs 200) compared to the construction turrets but not by much, but they're very comparable in price AND they are mobile plus they have build options of their own. If you go for the tidal generator pond strategy then going hover makes some sense; seaplanes for that only really makes sense if you're going to spam aero-construction power. I recommend that for practicing vehicle build orders that you try and beat your old record for getting nukes up.
I've seen the water / vehicle players ask for rez bots (and sometimes t1 constructor) on supreme strait. Also a lot of cheese from early air constructors hiding on cliffs building long ranged towers. One thing i've liked lately more of is quickly covering all the water entrances / front entrances with turrets, any leaks of ticks is exceedingly bad for the team.
I liked how you went back and reviewed the game after. Thanks for the video!
Looks like the frontline won the game pretty early. Mid was really weak on the other side
I like the live play with after reply analysis. Nice to see what you worked and what didn't and your thoughts during and after.
You should def try the arm med tank rush, it's always fun
artillery support is really good early on, seems like a good idea to consider doing from a more backline spot

yes super helpful, these mid positions are great at some kind of support where ever needed. going to try this next game
Would love to see a game with bad wind and you going solar, haven’t seen a pure solar frontline build in a while!
10:16 Reclaim is like the spoils of war! When you win a battle, you salvage the enemy wrecks to fuel your war machine!! NO OTHER GAME DOES THIS except for this game's predecessors ofcourse
yeah its good see vehicles getting some focus as well. a question drongo: a cerberus on that geothermal spot is useful? or its too much waste of metal considering how exposed it is?
I don’t even play BAR yet I’ve watched every one of your videos man lol
Plasma deflector on your shoreline will stop the cannon shots from marauders? Plus a popup cannon
as i see high skill replay there is very popular opening in bots for some lazarus and builder then reclaim bot lab and make vehicle lab on front
Saludos Drongo!. Gracias.
I wish you would do a video about what, if any, mods your running and how you get those "highlights" for areas about how much metal is there along with how you do those BAR only things like have unites automatically go into a control group.
@Doushibag

"Alt #" puts all of the selected units into the # control group. So you can select a grunt, hit Alt-1, and then press 1 and all grunts are selected and new ones added to group 1. That functionality is built into the game. The reclaim field thing that shows metal is an extra widget that he has downloaded.
Get a convertible! Good video!
At an average of +20 metal per second, eating your Commander will only save you ~62 seconds, just over a minute, when building your T2 lab. Is it really worth sacrificing build power, metal storage, and base defense for such a brief sugar high? Can you really say that exponential gains make up for that?
The tidal generators thing confuses me, when good players build a lot of them in the pond. Am I wrong thinking they only generate 21 energy on this map, but cost like twice as much as a solar? Seems way worse unless I'm missing something, but 30+ OS people do it.
Question from someone who is new here. What is the the advantage of this game over supreme commander FAF?
How did you switch the camera so quickly at 11:40 ?

Drongo, absolutely love your videos. Please stop calling everything a badboy
Do you have some extra widget that stops the rez bot from finishing off eating the commander? Feels like cheats the way people use widgets that aren't built into the game. I have to manually stop my rez bots and can't see reclaim field data the way you can in your video, since I don't have that extra widget either, as it's not built in. Edit: Actually think it just ate it all and it was the reclaim field widget that was still showing metal when it was all eaten already.
nice
I don't get how the chevrons work in this game. I've been playing quite a bit for a few months. I'm just TS 17-18 and I only have one chevron. I actually had 3 at one point and then lost them all after a particularly bad losing streak. Now I've been stuck at 1 for a long time

My max rank is 33 but I've never gotten past staff sergeant. From 26-33 I've been the same rank. At one point at rank 31 I was randomly given a silver chevron for one day before it vanished.
I feel the bald as well brother….it do be like that sometimes -_- Cool game. Would the equivalence of this for cortex be tiger rush? Or they are far more expensive in your opinion to be considered equivalent?

Please don't refer to everything as "bad boys". For newbies like me, I have no idea what you're actually building.
