As an Edinburgh Fringe veteran I advise anyone going to see a stand up to sit in the front row, especially if you don't have to.

Sadist, or lonely masochist?
That whole "that's what from means" bit is just comedy perfection. The chances of that happening so insane is incredible and it happened. So brilliant! :D

But surely, as soon as you'd open your mouth...much like poor old Tim.
years ago we saw you do a gig at Chatham and you talked to Dave a lorry driver - after bigging up his job as a knight of the road and a free spirit you asked him how far he went "Essex" he said and when asked what he drove "skip lorry" bought the house down. Strange thing is months later at a friends party I met Dave for the first time where he turned out to be a long lost son of the hostess!
Dara knowing Canabalt still gets me every time. Wouldn't expect that.
Of course I had seen this several times, but I do not know it by heart, so it still makes me laugh 😂. DVDs of comedians are a real investment.
Tim really didn't look pleased about the booing!

I've watched this so many times & I still think that the " bookmaker " guy actually was talking about making books the old school way hand stitch books. And not bookmaking as in placing a bet..

@@phuckweed Well there are bookies in America. So that's why I'm thinking it's actually bookmaker as in book's. And also the confused look on his face, when Jimmy starts on about betting. Someone who makes books would never describe themselves as a bookmaker -as strange as that might sound. They'd say _I'm a bookbinder or booksmith,_ or occasionally just say _I make and repair books._
@shelbynamels7948

like the guy below said, they'd call themselves bookbinders if they actually made - fabricated - books.

"Bookmaker" as in a bookie. A person who makes books is my first thought as well. It took me a while to figure it out in a novel I was reading.
@jaspermooren5883
5 ай бұрын
I thought that for a minutes as well. But that would be a bookbinder or an author, depending on if you physically make books (although of course that is a super niche profession nowadays that is really relegated to etsy shops and stuff for very special bookcovers) or write them. Bookmaking is the someone that balances the books, by making sure the betting odds are slighly in the favour for the betting organiser to maximise profits. So someone that makes the books black so to speak. So a very different job from being a bookbinder.
