His entire catalog literally forms a story thats brought him to this point. The mansion that signifies his mind.( mansion album) the rooms with him and the black ballons that signify his burdens,( the search album) him in the cage with the keys in his hands (perception album) personifications of the dark emotions in his mind that you can see are him the video with the black clothes etc. He's been battling so much darkness and fear which he talks about in previous albums and for the first time in 30 years, Hope as personified by him wearing the white clothes, finally decides to take the reigns over his mind. something that hasnt been the case before. there is so much symbolism in this video, so many call backs that only someone who has followed his journey would be able to truly understand how incredible it is that he's reached this point. Its like you basically picked up a book and jumped to the middle lol. but its incredible nonethless and it was amazing watching you react to it. NF has only mentioned eminem as his influence as a rapper. He is a big fan of movies and cinematic scores and classical music which would explain why those also have an influence on his videos and instrumentals.

This is about the best analysis that one can bring someone up to speed about his video story. Also, the black balloons are IMO, a triple entendre. It depicts his dark story, depression and his mother's death of addiction.

I love how all of us NF fans have this almost creepy obsession with him and we won't accept that they just like this song we all send them back to album 1 and demand they follow the lore in all of the albums. I love it. I think that's why everyone is reacting to him, because of those of us that are not just fans, but obsessed with him.

The female vocals was from his mansion ablum. The mansion being his mind and all the different rooms hold different things like traumas, depression, abuse, etc. The "mouth" is when his depression or self doubt is talking to him i believe. His imagery with words is top tier. You should check out his other stuff.

Nf is known to personify emotions and feelings, nf normally wears black but the one wearing white is the personification on 'hope' (he has also dedicated a song to beating his fear). The 'my album' fight is all his personified emotions fighting over the album. There's also a lot of references to his past songs e.g. the cage, shopping cart etc. If you like this I highly recommend his song mansion and then intro 3 after 😁

Also at the end when his face has the black smile on is one of his things he is known for, the black smile representing that he's got a mask on showing everyone he's smiling but they can't see what he's actually feeling. Also the white shirt turning black is saying that his other emotions (fear, anger) are trying to take over hope and silence it but hope is fighting them to take control

The mouth thing with the neck is his “other half” trying to break out. Same thing with the people at the beginning dressed in black. If you watch his other videos, he’s always dressed in black. But now he found the map to hope so he’s dressed in white. He’s trying to follow the map, but he’s taking directions from his darker parts of himself. So he ends up where he started. In the mansion, when it goes black, he was talking hopeful, so his darker self kidnapped him, basically saying “no, you can’t say that.” You can see a lot of references to his other songs and albums in it too. Overall I think you did a great reaction, your expressions during the song were gold! You also seem pretty new to NF, if you liked the “arguing with himself” part, then you should check out his “Intro 3”

I'm sure several people have mentioned take the NF Journey and I am hoping you do so. PLEASE. There were so many Easter Eggs (call backs to previous songs) in this video it was insane. But the "joker look" was his fake smile that people who suffer from depression feel like they put on for the world. He has suffered from depression and OCD and has used music and song writing to cope. He considers himself a Christian but not a "Christian Rapper". His videos are usually epic and many of his songs have stings such as violins.

as others have pointed out, NF has been doing this like this since Mansion. Personifying each emotion and metaphors to the mansion in his mind. Ren and Ronnie definitely borrowed from nf. Also his sole of using cinematic orchestra has been a thing too.. the biggest change in this song is that is full of hope... most of his music is dark and dealing with loss, anger and depression.. being abused by his step dad, his mom dying to overdose and trying to find his identity

This whole song is an inner dialog between hope (white) and fear (black). He mentions fear in a bunch of his past songs because he went through trauma as a kid and has dealt with mental health issues ever since. Hope to see you go on the NF journey. It's honestly good for the soul and the guy who produces most of his songs (Tommee Profitt) is a musical genius with his grandiose musical productions.

Oh girl... I love that you reacted to this, but if you are gonna react to NF please do the whole "journey"! I can totally see the parallels you drew between this and Ren's "Hi Ren", but NF has been singing/rapping metaphorically about his "burdens" (inner struggles personified) for many years. This song, along with many others he's done previously, are fan-fair that ties his life/albums/"journey" altogether, and signal change for him and his music (new album). He really is a great singer, though, his music touches so many people because it reaches those dark places so many others are afraid to dig into. We call it the "journey", and this song about "hope" is a change in direction from the darker stuff to what we (hope) is something positive and uplifting. Blessings Maggie

@@maggiereneemusic NF has been perfecting this orchestral rap styles for a few albums now. Also, kind of a hard song to get into NF with haha, it's a song that ties in many of his other songs. This ones for the long time fans I'd say. In rough chronological order off my memory, if you wanted to listen in your own time, to understand what this song symbolizes you'll want to listen to these and a lot of them have relevant music videos: Mansion Therapy Session How Could You Leave Us Intro 2 and Intro 3 Let You Down Outcast Why The Search Leave Me Alone Lost Probably missing others even as a pre-Mansion fan tbh Also if you're wondering, what was happening in the song and in the lyrics is NF and Hope were talking to each other, and his 'burdens' were picking at him. Basically this song was about him finally letting Hope do the work to fight the burdens instead of himself. He personifies his emotions in his music a lot, and will speak both in metaphor, and from the viewpoint of an emotion

When it comes to Ren and Ronnie, they are both influenced by NF, he is one of the first to do this type of rap, dramatic, cinematic, with a message, with his life and his trauma. The video of Ren with Hi Ren was influenced by Complete - Jordan who did the same concept years ago, and did it way better than Ren. As everyone here informed you already, NF has multiple albums that connect with each other, so to understand this whole song, you would need references from his songs in the past. For example the female singer in here is the artist who features in a song in his first album, so he has a story that goes on for years now, you need to start from Mansion, and you'll be guided from his fanbase on what to do next. After a while you will reach Intro 3 which is probably the best example of a song with a concept of fighting your demons like Hi Ren or Hope by NF, that song is a masterpiece. NF is not just a rapper, he is an artist 💕

His music has definitely improved over the years but his beginning stuff is still soo good because of his lyrics and content. TAKE THE NF JOURNEY! Start with NF Intro (the very beginninge)

He also hides eggs in his videos which he directs and co produces. For example in his “when i grow up” song there were two hidden eggs in that song: 1. A black balloon by the trash cans (black balloon represents his burdens per search single) 2 In the burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. Additionally, he had outcast written on his name tag in the janitor scene whic references his Outcast song. Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song. The black smile you will see painted on his mouth is explained in his therapy session song. NF's albums are like a book, and each song is a different chapter in that book that explains his past, his present, his depression, anxiety and self hatred ect. But they all tie in together to show a bigger picture. His videos are the same way. He has hidden Easter eggs that will pop up in other video's. Like this one has a ton from all of his albums.

NF has been doing this for awhile. I'm pretty sure REN got his inspiration from NF, not the other way around. You should start the journey from the beginning. All his music tells a single story. You get to witness his progression not just musically but also with how his life goes, and his mental progression.

At the end that essentially his “demons” trying to take over again and fill his head with negative thoughts and emotions. He’s spent his entire life battling those demons. The map you see him holding throughout is his map to hope he’s referenced in a previous track called The Search. He’s finally found the map but his demons (him dressed in black) keeps pointing him in the wrong direction leading him back to the shore id loneliness, despair, etc. That “demon then pushes him back into the Mansion of his dark thoughts and traumas (check out the song Mansions). His story telling is phenomenal

the person wearing black is fear. With this album NF is saying he is turning to a new chapter in his life and music. Fear is no longer the focus. Hope is. Hope wears white, fear wears black. So that’s why in this video Fear is constantly trying to sabotage Mr. Hope. Cause fear is, ironically, afraid of losing control of Nate. At the end of the song, hope is in control of Nate, but fear still exists inside him, and fear is desperately trying to gain control back, he’s trying to discourage Nate and make him doubt and relapse. but fails. It’s a shockingly triumphant message.

Just as his brand REAL, he is always real with it. Hes brutally honest and vulnerable in his music. There's a lot of the NF family that has dealt with these issues and connect with Nate. He will be and is one of the greats in my opinion. you wont be disappointed by his music most people are surprised.

So here for it, start with his song Mansion please, the " joker " smile is the " makeup " fake smile he wears because people tell him to smile more no matter how he feels, this is first referenced in his second album, song Therapy Session When I heard about Ren I felt he might have been the one influenced by NF As well as the person before that which I believe Ren was definitely influenced by which also came out with his song after NF intro 3. The name of the person is complete and the song is Jordan.

You really need to get into the NF Journey to get every aspect of this song and the video. The Song and the music video are full of references to old videos and songs of him while on his journey. His Journey began with a depressive Nate caught in his own mind and his own prison in his mansion and is now getting a high in his found hope because of his little born son. It is a journey full of emotions and tears that many people can relate to. And it is impressive to see how Nate is growing up and becomes more and more powerful enough to quit his own prison. Take the time to watch the whole NF Journey from beginning to end. You will not regret it. I would love to see you reacting to the other videos.
