@@alexalexis7899 thanks Alex - I worked for a short while as an in house photographer for a small AD agency and hated the work. Commercial work was not for me. Given that I was a young unknown photographer it’s impossible to make a living selling work through an art dealer as they want established artists with a brand that has worth for collectors.

Yes, please! We always get info on how to take better photos, better compositions, better lighting, etc. We want a in-depth break down on the business side as well! 1. Decisions between self-publishing and finding a publisher 2. Finding a quality printer digital or film. Local or online (domestic or international) 3. Different types of paper and some examples, how to get samples 4. Buying the books in bulk vs print-on-demand (with a few personal company recommendations) 5. Possibly marketing? selling the book alone vs combining with a print (or something other kind of bundle)

The showcasing and positivity for Zines is just amazing and inspiring! I would love to see your process in making one, be it something current like staying with a fixed focal length challenge, or organising older work into a collection. Either way, been thoroughly enjoying these zine showcases and commentaries and hope we see one of yours soon!

Hi Ted, love the idea of an assignment. It's really simple (for starters), just print on A4 (or letter) on copy paper and staple them together. That alone is so rewarding and you can scale as you like (better paper, stitching, have it done elsewhere ...). There are gazillions of videos explaining this ... best regards from Germany! Tom

I've always loved your photo assignments and have learned a lot by doing them. I'm also a huge proponent of getting our work printed, so I do. Why don't you do a photo assignment that combines a project with some form of print (maybe that's where people's creativity can further come in).

I have a bunch of photos, a theme for those photos, some essays, and a desire to publish a book - but where do I go to make that possible. I know about Blurb, but what is the best way to put your first book out in the world without it costing an arm and a leg to make available? I would love to see a video on how to get our work out there in quality photo book format.

How do you guys feel about calling professionally printed photo book "zines", for me a zine IS always and only hand made and printed at home, and not by a book making company. All these photo books being sent in are nice, and there's no discrediting the photography or quality of the book. But they are not zines - in my opinion. Keep making photo books, and zines, just be sure to use the correct terminology. - open for discussion on this, I might be wrong. But I think im right on this one.

First one: its ok, but nothing great. Second one: great light, some interesting images, but lack of story in images. Third one: great presentation, very novel and cost effective. would be a great one to have in the bathroom to look and dream as you sit on the throne. Fourth one: good effort and great accomplisment on making it, but content was just kind of... ok. Fifth one: Simple, but had the best images in it. the images actually capture and told stories in the images and good capture of light.
