Speaking of people watching you, I Caught a massive dogfish 2 weeks ago. At the bottom of my street I was just bottom fishing for them when I hooked into a big one. A big fishing boat was coming by loaded with ppl they saw me fighting the beast and told the captain to stop to watch. They started yelling when I wa abt to flip it up and when I grabbed it they all started cheering and clapping. Very rewarding moment… lol.

I remember buying a fishing setup after saving up money from my first job and went to my nearest lake. I never had a dad or a grandpa or uncle to teach me how to fish so I was looking lost. An old Asian man sat me down and gave me like a 2 hour lesson on how to setup and tie knots and what baits to use. I’ll never forget that man, Andy.

The great thing about Delaware, is that fishermen are given priority over other beach goers. If a person swimming gets to being a nuisance, call beach patrol. In fact, to drive on the beach, you MUST be a fisherman. Some people cheat by pretending, but you can still report them.

I know this is an old video, but in my experience, people who have the most to say about your fishing in public, positive and negative, are people who don't even fish and have no idea what's going on, how anything is done, or what any species/lure/bait is. A guy asked me about my bait and if I bought it and I said, "No, I use a minnow trap" and he's like, "Never heard of that, must be something new." Then he looks at my aerator attached to my bucket and is like, "Oh, ya got it all motorized huh? In my day the bubbles in the bucket came from the fish." Just nonsense like that. I don't like being in public around people either, but fish on and disregard them.

Get yourself a nice st croix 7-8ft rod capable of throwing up to an ounce or two lure, set up with a pen slammer 3000-4000 depending on size of fish you want to target. Then throw a sluggo, deadly dick, or epoxy jig on it. Wake your ass up at the crack of dawn and hit either the incoming or outgoing tide (never fish at slack tide). If you really want a fun challenge throw on a top water pencil or popper and fish from the beach during the same time frames mentioned above.

I love fishing with people around. Had a dad and son come by and i offered the son to release the bass himself. Hes never fished before and they loved it.

When everyone leaves the bite picks up for me. I'll even fish there spot and clean house. I will do it every time and in my experience they have the wrong bait or can't reach the good spot, even if I tell them where to cast. I have caught a 20lb, plus many mid teener channel cats recently around 1pm after the crowd clears. More time on the water= more fish in the boat.
