Thanks for being clear and honest. Lots of youtubers make it sound like you must buy a 2000 dollar welder and the cheap ones are worthless. Now I see these cheap welders have there place

They do have their place and that was my point . I wouldn't dare build a utility trail with one ( it wouldn't be safe ) . But for DIYs they are great . And they are a low price point and help to get you hands on training to help you learn by doing it and improve your skills . I've took welding classes which are also important , they teach you what a good weld is and looks like . But I still couldn't weld even after taking classes until I spent hours with the lead in my hands , using it . But most people are hands on learners . And that their place . After you learn a little more about welding . Then just like fishing. Your going to want better equipment too improve your skills further. And if and when you do go to a better machine you'll find out fast you could weld way better than you thought you could . Because good welders really do produce better results . So I'm not saying this welder is just as good . It's just an affordable way to get started

I am a certified welder and I use this welding machine on the job site it does a better job than the big welding machine does and it helps me get into places that is very hard for me to use a big welding machine at

For a nervous novice like me, this gets me in the door with minimal investment, and since I'm only planning on occasional use, this should be more than adequate. If Project Farm is a good indication, HF welders do alright compared to other Chinese machines. Thanks for this detailed video explanation for people like me.

@@FishinNStuff That’s not true at all you could use $100 welder to build trailers if it is rated at the proper amperage. The cost of the welder has nothing to do with penetration.

As a professional welder for 30 years, I've used quite a few different machines. There are plenty really good cheap machines on the market, harbor freight is probably the cheapest and they do work! You just have to consider what it is you're wanting to do with it. Anything over 1/8 th inches and you're better off spending the $ on a better one or bring your project to a pro. Just saying! Love the content keep it up! From a Welder & stuff 😁

I agree 100% . I have experience welding but mostly running a robot welder . No where the experience you guys have , and your exactly right . But that little 125 flux would be great for throwing in the truck and taking it with you .

@knellertuc9 I ran robot welders a long time and 20 years ago our robots had lincoln welders on them . Then all the new machines started getting Miller welders . I'm not a Lincoln hater at all but I don't think they are as good as they once were . And most if not all are made over seas just like the Harbor Freight stuff but some Miller's are too

Dude, this is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not a welder by trade, but have several small welding projects that I'd like to be able to tackle myself. They don't need to look perfect, but I'd like them to look better than trash. You demonstrated what was possible with a low end welder, and this gives me the confidence to know that with enough practice, I could achieve what I need to do without investing thousands of dollars. I bought this welder to learn welding and it is fantastic with one issue I’ve come across, which is trying to weld thinner metal. Doable but takes trial and effort. On thicker metal wow this thing is great, had it over a year and after I learned to use it I’m welding like a pro…well you know what I mean. I bought it to build a iron handrail and the compliments that I get are wow look at those welds. I’m still learning but this was a fantastic purchase and if anyone is on the fence I highly recommend it!

Something I learned over the years is that nothing is as hard as you thought once you know how to do it, lol . You should always strive to learn more , don't get me wrong . But some people like others thinking Something is hard because it makes them look smarter . I think you can do it . Being a mechanic isn't exactly the easiest of jobs

I live in Utah now after 25 years in the Army. But, I grew up in in the woods (that’s rural for you city folks) between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, AL. Watching this video actually made me feel like I was listening to one of my relatives explaining how to compare, contrast, and use this welder when I was growing up. Thanks😊

Good un Keith. Man, 200 miles to go to a Harbor Freight, you are one devoted diy channel guru. I'm glad you got one of these. Now, you can use and review it for projects. I really like Miller's , but for the average at home project welder, these inexpensive welders work fine. Then they can spend the money they saved on more tools. I've used that argument on my wife many times. Good luck with your projects with the new welder. God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels to the Harbor Freight stores.

This will get you started but it's really practice that makes you good . And you'll learn more as you go . I Learned about KZread making mistakes and learning how to fix em . Welding is no different really

@@FishinNStuff I converted my Chicago electric to DC electrode negative back when I still owned it. It improved the weld quality, but the titanium was still a game changer. I almost wish I'd kept the Chicago just to do a video showing how to make that conversion.

Yeah I've got that little mini welder also and I have the mini plasma cutter and MIG machine plus I got the mini stick and I would rather have them than I would any of the big welders I use them on the job site they do a lot better I can get them in places where I can't get big stuff at and I don't have to haul around a bunch of cords and crap I just take that little mini thing go up into where I have to go with it plug it in and go and it saves me wait on the truck which saves gas and plus I get the jobs done a lot quicker without having to haul a whole bunch of crap in there and then haul that same crap back out I can get in and out and be done before you can blink an eye

I've been a professional welder for over sixty years and this was a great video for beginners to watch

I purchased the 225 stick/tig and have been amazed how well it welds. Extremely compact at 17 lbs. Handles 1/4" like a champ.

First comment on a KZread video in months but I had to tell you, excellent job. The BEST welding video I’ve ever seen for a flux core. Nice job.

Just a tip I wanted to throw back up to ya: If you can't get your weld hot enough, you can put the ground clamp directly onto it to make the weld hotter. Or move what you're welding closer to the grounded area of the table. Inverse is true, too, if you're blowing through something thin, do what you can to maximize distance and also contact between the to-be-welded material and the table. Another thing that can be done is a weld-backer material. Like a chunk of aluminum, behind the two things trying to be welded. Handy if you gotta weld something delicate.

In a pinch you can also weld thicker material past 3/16ths, but you have to pre-heat the things to be welded with a propane torch. To black hot. Welding that way has to be done on firebricks though, a metal table would suck away the heat.

I've always attached ground clamp to the work piece, I'm going to try to a metal table now, see if I don't blow holes in 1 millimetre sheet,....my MIG isn't mega expensive so not designed for really stuff.

This video took some time to create and was one of the best I’ve viewed. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to put it together. I’m not a welder but I’ve been working around it for years and actually learned a lot.

I have one of these and it has done everything I need it to do. I run .030 wire since most say it works better with it, and I also upgraded to a Lincoln ground clamp since the one it comes with is a little too cheap for me. I mainly use mine for sheet metal patches on my truck which is probably the hardest thing to weld with this machine, but it's been doing a great job.

"Sheet metal patches on the truck" 👍 my last work truck had a few small holes in the passenger side (~off-road damage) when I bought it. I bought duct tape the same color (every few months I replaced it) looked ok if you weren't looking too closely. If I'd had that welder I could have tried to patch it. ✌️

There's nothing better than that little EasyFlux125 for going to your friends driveway and fixing his car's exhaust. It's so compact and light that even if you want to get more into welding, it's still gonna fill a portability niche better than anything. You could even leave it in your truck with a helmet and gloves and be ready for any small job anywhere.

The absolute BEST beginner instructional video, on any subject, I have EVER seen. I have a similar, Forney, welder. My kids got it for me. I have never welded before. I've always drilled and bolted anything I fabricated. Because of this video, I am absolutely certain I know enough to give that welder a try, being respectful, but not afraid, of it. It is essentially the same machine; all the same specs. Harbor freight is having a sale on welding equipment right now, so I'm going to get me a helmet, some wire, and a flap disc or two, and,, for our anniversary, I'm going to weld my dang bed frame together, to stop all the squeakin'. If you know what I mean ; )

I have the Titanium 125 welder and I found that raising the temp up by .5 above what the label says to set it at that it welds much better.

Interesting that you covered down on this. Even more than your personal experience garnered a favored outcome. I am a firm believer in the Titanium 125 and have used it extensively. It really is one of those golden eggs you can purchase from HF and as you said, GET the job done with it and an incredibly reasonable entrance price. Great video!

My brother has one and he said he's never sure where the heat is set because the knob will just spin around and around. Some times it spins easy and then will feel snug. He turns it backwards and it feels loose for a bit then gets snug again. He says half the time it doesn't feel like the knob is even doing anything. And it doesn't seem right that the knob just spins around and around without hitting some kind of stop. He said the wheel speed knob doesn't act that way. How is it with yours?

@@mrhalfstep I’ve owned three, never, EVER had any of them have a fault with being out of the box or over the year of use. While it could be defective from the get go, it should have been taken back. But it sounds like that was possibly something from personal damage. Obviously I can’t tell, but the machines and everyone I know who owns one have had zero issues. I’d recommend a replacement. These are really great little machines TBH.

​@@AXNJXN1Just so I get this right, when you turn the heat knob, on the three units that you've owned, you felt a steady resistance as you turned the knob and came against a hard stop of some kind before you reached power level 11? (I don't know your age, so the power level 11 thing may have gone over your head, now that I think about it. It's an old movie reference) I actually looked at one when I was in a local store and found that it did just as my brother described. I asked two different sales people and another customer that was looking for a welder himself about the funky way the knob worked and whether that was normal or not and all I got was crickets from them. Nobody knew nuttin".

Great review Keith. My son and I bought a Lincoln about ten years ago and it worked fine. He still uses it but since I got this defibrillator put in my chest the won’t let me weld. So I’m stuck using the brazing rods. Great video buddy.

Don’t forget you have the auto feed so you don’t have to hold the trigger it’s inside where the wire goes into on the right side it’s the little black switch. I have the first one when they came out with the titanium it burns a lot hotter then the new ones do. I do z or circles weaves and I run my hotter and able to move a little faster as well . Works great outside in the wind as well. I run my wire speed faster as well you can get flux core stainless steel welding wire for it as well . I run it at work for all the kitchen stainless I weld up without having to bring the bigger welder and dragging the gas bottle in. You can use regular flux on stainless as well jut spray some clear coat paint so the welds want rust as well .

I bought the cheapest Chicago Electric model wire welder 8 yrs ago for $99.00 from Harbor Freight and I have used the Hell outta it! It has done so many projects for me and still going strong!

9:33 10:25 Self-shielded flux core welding is DCEN - Direct Current Electrode NEGATIVE. The gun is NEGATIVE polarity, the clamp is positive polarity. 11:59 I bought one of those clamps at HF to replace my oversized paper clip they call a clamp.

@@FishinNStuff Glad to be of help. You might not see what you want at one HF. I needed a grinding wheel. HF didn't have any in stock. I asked and the manager tells me that they get what the company decides to send them based upon some algorithm in sales quantity. I needed an SDS drill. None on the shelf. They had one and only one in the back, so it does help to ask.

You are very funny and very informative. I learned more from your video than from other welder videos.

i bought one of these and learned how to weld on it. its awesome. i welded my friends license plate bracket on his motorcycle. it broke off and flew off. when we inspected it, it wasnt my weld that gave up. it was the original bracket that attached to the motorcycle. my weld held up even after bouncing off of a rear tire at speed.

Love this guy he’s informative and funny without overkill you just earned yourself another sub.

I'm going to pick mine up this week. I've always wanted to learn how to weld, and I have a small repair project that is the perfect reason to do it now. Thanks for all the info you provided.

I opted for thr HF VULCAN OMNIPRO 220. I love it. You dial in the type of welding you're doing and it sets itself up. I'm just sayin.

I agree with the masses. I too am a newbie and have a welder I bought 6 months ago, but just have been too nervous to start it up. I have a short attention span, but I was able to sit through this video and feel more at easy and ready to starter up. Thanks for the time and effort taken to put this together. It's most appreciated.

I worked at Harbor Freight 2003 - 2008, this is better than anything they had then & priced better! I've been satisfied with mine😊

thank you for the video you answered so many basic questions i had about welding. i picked up a harbor freight welder and will be doing my own welding soon

This machine is fantastic for what it is. Where it shines is it's ability to be plugged in anywhere there is 110v 15a including a generator. Windy, fine it's flux. Dirty, it's fine it's flux. I welded an offroad bumper with swing outs using this as well as a 4 link. The Millermatic 211 is my other go to and would be my choice if the conditions allow but for on the go, tight places with limited voltage, this things pays the bills.

I am from Guyana. Just graduated with a certificate in welding. I have two welding machines. This is the best welding video i have seen on youtube. I am sharing it in my group. Thank you.

I’ve been looking all over KZread for a good video on a harbor freight welder and “BAM” your video showed up today. I’ve have a storage box I want to weld to my travel trailer and if I could do it myself but after watching your video it doesn’t look to hard. Thanks for making a very informative video.

I've been welding on and off for most of my adultish life and I certainly wish that I had someone to help break the basic steps down like you just did when I was starting out. I was taught by my brother, who is a structural and mechanical engineer and His teaching methods Typically involved a lot of weld shaming, followed by some very creative name calling. So thank you for taking the time to break things down so that anyone who is interested in doing the things, can at least know how to get started.
