My wanting to read mysteries waxes and wanes quite a bit but you have a way of making me want to drop everything and pick one up!🎉❤

Lucy Worsley did the same thing in Jane Austen at Home. I agree. She's a fantastic writer and I will keep reading her work, but I was so annoyed by her asides in that book! Still, I plan on reading the Agatha Christie one, too. I just started my journey through the Fairacre series, so I look forward to watching your discussions on the books as I go. I knew you would enjoy A London Child of the 1870s! I plan on picking up the next one in that series in January and gradually working them in every few months.

Less of Lucy Worsley and more of the topic she's talking about! I can't wait to continue with Molly Hughes writing! If my January wasn't packed with reading I would join you. Hopefully we enjoy the second two as much as the first!

I really enjoyed Lucy Worsley's Agatha Christie biography too. I just watched the PBS documentary on this which went over the fugue state Agatha went through after her mother died and her husband wanted a divorce.

I loved Tasha Alexander's books so much when they came out and then she switched to a dual timeline around I think book 7 (?) and she lost me completely, I hate dual timelines. I actually listened to Lucy Worsley's biography of Agatha Christie as an audiobook, she narrates it herself and I loved it but definitely you can tell it's Lucy Worsley writing I agree haha!! I'm rewatching the 90s show of The Worst Witch at the moment, it's a huge childhood favourite of mine. Added the Mitford books and Magyk to my TBR, thanks for recommending them! High Rising has been on my TBR ever since Virago reprinted it haha I should really read it! The Fairacre books were lovely and then started to be a bit samey so I stopped but I'd love to go back to them and try Thrush Green too!

I have never heard of Magyk. Sorry to hear that you didn't love The Lilies of the Field as much as I did. I adore it and have read it many times. 😊

I had similar feelings about Lucy Worsley's book. I feel like it's a bit disrespectful, maybe too strong of a word, of poor Rosalind and how bad her experience must have been. The book was still enjoyable, but those few points grated on my nerves. I will have to find the London child book; it sounds really interesting. I'm reading Ernest Shephard's memoir about his childhood in the 1880s and so far I'm really enjoying it.

Yes to poor Rosalind! I really didn't like that aspect of Agatha - globetrotting while leaving her little girl at home. Why couldn't Rosalind have come along? The London Child book is an utter delight!

@@katehowereads two very immature parents is a recipe for disaster. I'm going to start looking for that book. Isn't it a part of a trilogy?
