Lyrics:
I'm sick of spending all these days
Looking for some nepenthe,
Like atelophobic and solivagant.
How could I believe in magic
When we all feel so alone
And only try to survive for redamancy ?
I'm pacing downtown everynight
And everyone's giving advice
But no one really seems to give a shit.
So who's gonna...
...Who's gonna be my catharsis
And get me outside of my head
When I'm one breath away from drowning ?
Guess I been wasting time as it's wasting me,
Nicotine in the veins,
A thousand wishes hanging on my lip tips.
How could I believe in magic
When we are all so alone
And only try to survive all the things we feel ?
Surfing on liberosis,
Don't wanna know if I still bleed
Just wanna feel like dust in the winds.
Let me drown in velleities,
Don't wanna know if I still breathe,
Just wanna feel the light on my face.
No one will ever try to break the silence
When it's burning out my conscience,
When it's running every inch of my mind.
Here, even just to feel is complex,
But I wanna try and dare,
Take a moment to admire the world.

Nepenthe- “a fictional medicine for sorrow. A ‘drug of forgetfulness’” Ateliphobic- “the fear of not doing something right, or of not being good enough” Solivagant- “a lone wanderer” Redamancy-“the act of loving in return” Liberosis-“longing for liberty, an ache to let things go” Velleities-“a slight wish, a wish you aren’t working to make true” Credits go to the internet and not my massive vocabulary

This song improved my vocabulary tenfold lol. Nepenthes = Drug to relieve pain Atelophobia = Fear of doing something wrong, or not good enough Solivagant = The act of wandering alone (amazing word that I never knew existed) Redamancy = Loving someone in return. Liberosis = Longing for liberty, wanting to let something go. Velleities (Velleity) = Wishing for something, but not enough to take action

For several times, one of my best friends recommended this band for me, but I haven't paid enough attention to it. He used to say that Novelists was the band of his life and always posted Instagram stories of the sunset view from the room we used to work, with Novelists songs in the background... but I haven't paid enough attention to it. 2 months ago, he sent me this music, but I was in a shitty day and i haven't paid enough attention to it. Few days later, he went to ICU, for covid treatment, but it was too much for him to handle... In the day after his passing, scrolling down our messages, I've finally decided to listen to it. And I've cried. Bitterly. With pain, grief, with repentance, with the feeling of "I wish I could have done more, listen more, help more", and since then, I always listen to this song, remembering all of this. It's a bittersweet feeling, tbh. Rest ease, brother. We always will remember you. I'll remember.

I'm that kind of guitarrist that loves guitar solos in those climax moments... I'm a guitarrist actually, i like solos everywhere. But... In this song i feel like the simple comes better. This idea of soloing in these moments is something almost predictable, it's becoming a cliche. This song don't deserves that. (i'm from brazil, any mistakes in my english tell me please)

Today I learnt 2 things. 1. I've been singing this song wrong for years and on the basis I don't know what any of the words mean, will continue to. 2. Gelsom knows big words
