One of their best matches ever. Always remember this one for it being the first time I could ever remember seeing someone wear Rafa down physically and outlast him. Golden era man miss it so much absolute privilege to have lived it.
2011 Djokovic still the best start of the season ever. Won Australia, Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, Belgrade, Madrid and Rome in a row. Didn't lose a match until semi finals of Roland Garros, had 41 consecutive wins. This years Sinner is starting to give similar vibe, although he is still far away from repiclating that crazy year.

Rafa was not in his prime in 2011. He was struggling with injuries and form all year. If he was healthy, he would have beaten Djokovic like he did a few months prior at the US Open and the World Tour Finals, both on hard courts.

@@0kos.thats what Nadal fans like to think. If you pay attention, Nadal is warmer to Djokovic before he became a dominant force
According to what i watched, Nadal's backhand costed him the match. It was too short most of the time and back at this time his slice was not that good. Nadal was in trouble after half of his backhands, also Djokovic's forehandis really underated. You can see how Nadal's backhand improved throught the years until today.
2:24 literally the craziest backhand i have ever seen.

classic I can still remember is match like it was yesterday
The year when Novak owned Nadal and set the path for the next decade and more🤤
This match lasted three hours. Half the time was what it took to serve. One of few times I saw Rafa out of gas. The moment was in final tiebreak.
Nole❤
It’s sad how we never cherished their rivalry when it was on fire. Now we just bring up stats and argue with fanbases

29:17 Rafa who is a good friend. Oh..how the things has changed as the years passed by.
What impressive about nadal is that he had to fight for every point, just imagine if he had a good serve how things it would have been easy for him, sure he will be now with more than 30 slams
