Notre Dame vs. Georgia Recap: No.3 Bulldogs Survive Late Push From No.7 Irish | CBS Sports HQ
Спорт
After trailing at the half and taking a 13-point lead late in the game, No. 3 Georgia held on to beat No. 7 Notre Dame 23-17 in Athens, Georgia on Saturday night. The only matchup between top-10 ranked teams on the day was every bit as close as the final score suggests. Notre Dame had a chance to win in the final minute, but Georgia's defense ultimately held strong as Fighting Irish quarterback Ian Book heaved up a prayer on fourth down that wasn't answered with the ball knocked to the turf.
Jake Fromm's final stat line in this statement win for the Bulldogs will not wow man -- 187 yards and one touchdown -- but he made a number of huge throws in the second quarter that helped Georgia take control of the game. Book finished with 275 yards passing and had two touchdowns, but he also threw two costly interceptions that loomed large in a one-possession game.

@@lilwaynecarter6107 how can you not trust Fromm?! He killed it along with the WR. The muffed punt hurt, things happen. But the 2 fake injuries, and 3 no called pass interferences kept ND in this game. The injuries stopped a lot of momentum at the beginning of the third. That drive more than likely ends in a TD vs a field goal. Two of the three no calls where in the end zone, and the other was a pivotal 3rd down play that would have extended the drive further wearing out ND defense. Instead they got the ball back and are given more opportunities to keep it close

Great atmosphere and courtesy Dawgs. Hope we have more games in the future.
Good win for the dogs
I'm not surprised Nd had trouble at times against Gu's defense. In the game they are down 2 rb's and 2 Wideouts going into the game. I thought the play calling was good by the coaches coming out passing on early downs knowing that running would be tough sledding. After a few drives ND has some positive run gains to keep down and distance OK. However, way too many dead ball false start penalties to have against this caliber opponent. I really think a lot of fans didn't realize that ND's defense is better than expected. Ever since 2 td's given up to Louisville on their 1st 2 drives the starters haven't given up much. BTw, those first 2 drives could have stalled without stupid dead ball offside penalties. GU's Qb I very good even on incompletions were good throws. Nd's 4 d backs are all seniors. They made GU earn everything!

Dawgs kicker, Blankenship, was the MVP in this one.
For a ND team that is far far away from having the talent they typically have they played amazing . I believe if Saban was the Georgia coach Georgia would be winning championships because that team has major talent . I see it like Arizona in college hoops , Arizona gets big time talent but they rarely are ever able to get the most out of that talent.

I wasn't there but I understand that about 40% of the stadium was Georgia fans. Is it our fault that the Notre Dame fans would rather make a few bucks selling their tickets than support their team?
K I think I know why there were so many fall starts notre dame was working on a silent count and the reason y there were fall starts is because when Ian book clapped (he wasn’t supposed to)it threw the wr’s te off and the center wouldn’t snap it because he was still counting in his head gg bulldogs close game #ND
Good job, Georgia
uga couldnt have made this a more frustrating game even if thats what there intent in the game plan was to do....catches there dropped for a td or two - game plan esp first half was horrid - you know a team is bad stopping the run and you dont run it with your all american back wth - they did everything they could to help ND stay in this game an potentially win it - kirby has got to learn when to be aggressive and when to lay back - he doesnt seem to get that yet - uga is super talented but this coaching staff concerns me and ultimately if they dont win big this that staff will be the reason why

I’m a clemson and Georgia fan so go Dawgs and tigers
It seems like on the very last offensive play for Notre Dame one of the O-linemen let a Georgia rusher run right by him without even trying to block him.. what's up with that?
would love to see Georgia vs clemson in the regular season doesn't matter which stadium

They used to be home and home every year. In 1981, UGA was the defending National Champion and lost at Clemson 13-3. In 1982, Clemson was the defending National Champion and lost at UGA 13-7. UGA leads the series 42-18-4.
How Bout them DAWGS!!!
46 ND rushing yards. ND better do better or no NY6 game this year.
Go Dawgs!
And at 6:36 the last throw of the game that's defensive pass interference all day every day because the corner is up on his back WAY before the ball got there...look at the hands

@@wovah04 no watch the hands of #23 on the left arm and the collar of the reciever you will see the reciever left arm outstretched behind him cause #23 has ahold of it and you will see #23's right hand go on the collar of the reciever and you will see the reciever you flying back at the exact same moment #23 goes st the ball

Shid if thats pass interference what do u call the ones where ND player never look back for da ball.. happen like 4times in this game.
@richardgrace4500

@@yellawood4049 they also didnt make contact with the reciever before the ball was there..you dont have to look back for the ball as long as either #1 you contact the ball before you contact the reciever or #2 the reciever contacts the ball before you contact him... in all the instances of the ND player not looking back either the Georgia player touched the ball before the notre dame player contacted them or the ball hit the notre player before the notre dame player hit the player it's called "playing the reciever" which mean you react to the recievers reactions if you see his hands go up the you put yours up if he puts his out then you put yours out you basically mirroring the reaction of the reciever.... wherein when you look back for the ball it's called "playing the ball" and a lot of defensive players have their preference of which one they like doing even though coaches tend to prefer you play the ball

UGA is 3-0 all time against the Irish. The luck has NEVER been on the Irish’s side against the Dawgs

Barely won with a gigantic home field advantage. Play that up north or even at a neutral site and the Irish probably win.

Eh its hard to say. Auburn looks decent but they have a lot of exploitable issues on their O and D. It'll probably be a close game, but I doubt Auburn is good enough to kill UGA lol

The Jigglenaut Yikes 😂. georgia doesn’t have the oline for auburn’s defense atm. auburn’s winning easily just like they did a couple years ago. and then winning again in the conference championship this time 😉 georgia played this bad against notre dame who isn’t that good. Auburn’s gucci lmao

Gamecock Nation Aye just giving me more hope lmao 😂 they lost to South Carolina who has had a terrible season and the refs damn near gave Georgia the game but they still couldn’t finish it. Congratulations on the win brother, every time Georgia loses it’s a celebration from me! 👍🏽 Gonna be an easy dub for Auburn 😉 hopefully lol
