Marcus Freeman was an amazing hire by Notre Dame. They might be finally maximizing their potential. The Ohio st game should be awesome. It's a shame the loser might not make the playoffs (people like FSU and Georgia play no one)

@@matthewsdonnelly I do not like them hanging around but it's early in the season we overcame a couple tough calls and pulled away ,we were pretty much in control the whole game ,we have tough running good receiver plus a QB who has been on the money that's the recipe for national title run plus a tough defense creating turnovers I look at the growth of each game .like a creek turning into a river into a ocean tidal wave is us smashing all comers if the growth continues. Let's go Irish

For ND to be a legit Champ contender, a few things have to fall into place: 1) WRs need to step up, as a group but also a real dependable deep threat needs to emerge; 2) a legit and consistent pass rusher needs to emerge from the front 7 -- ND just won't compete at the highest levels without that type of pass rush; 3) The OGs need to be much better moving forward (the OTs and C are excellent, the OGs are question marks). If those things resolve, I do think ND is a contender. If those things don't resolve, ND won't be on the level of the top 4 or 5 teams in the nation.

As a south bend native love to see my Irish play this well. ND all the way.

This is the way a team that's supposed to be in the top 10 looks

Great execution by Norte Dame, but questionable officiating making the game a bit close throughout. Great win ND

Yea there were a few drives there where I was left scratching my head at some of those calls and I’m pretty objective, especially as a coach myself. The refs were literally extending drives for them lol

was at the game, questionable calls on both sides, some missed PIs and holdings, calling things that wern't there. overall our defense got tired after our offense can't possess the ball for more than 3 minutes. at least we were good in the 3rd quarter then collapsed in the 4th

UGA football has risen into another echelon of elite play on the field since the home & away a few years ago.. but I do agree that this is the best Notre Dame team in some time, better than 2012, more talented or at least as talented as the 2015 team that was held back by an atrocious DC in Van Gorder.. If these 2 teams should meet later this postseason, it could make for an epic cfb playoff or even championship game. Best of luck to your Dawgs, sir! The portion of your fanbase that traveled to ND Stadium in 17' represented the university very, very well. Some of the coolest and most laid back cfb fans I've ever met in my life. There were some really bad calls in this one, absolutely. NC State's 1st scoring drive was pretty much given to them with a bunch of yellow hankies in succession.. joke. This NC State didn’t belong on the same field as Notre Dame and it was painfully obvious to everyone else in the world early on-except for the ACC pom pom-waving zebra crew out there. Score should have been 55-10 ND

i hate the fact greathouse is playing in the slot, those first few screen plays to him were atrocious, greathouse is a talented receiver but i’d rather see tyree on that play he’s quicker and explosive. also we gotta move blake fisher to guard he’s got good hands but he’s been getting beat a lot at tackle

Although I don’t think NC State is very good, they are tough defensively. Putting up 45 on them makes me feel good about our chances. I too want to see us against Ohio State before I start to get really excited, but judging by the way they’ve looked so far, I’d be very worried if I was an OSU fan. This is the first year we’ve passed “the eye test “ in a long time.

In college football EVERY game is a test, no matter what. ND has one of the toughest schedules on paper year in and year out. This NC St team was solid, but they also weren’t able to exploit them early and the chemistry wasn’t there. Once they started the play action rollouts, they figured it out. The big distinction between these two teams was the number of mental errors NC State made, and THAT is why they are an unranked team. If ND can stay disciplined and keep overcoming adversity, I see a solid clash with OSU. But they have got to overcome adversity…why blow out teams just to get blown out on a national stage? Time will tell, but there is something different about this year’s team. Much more under control than I’ve seen them in previous years.

NC State's offense needs work. The defense was amazing but they were gassed by the 4th quarter and thats when all the big plays happened, not to mention like 3 turnovers in the 4th getting them inside the 35. They played good in the 1st and 3rd quarters, but other than that I don't see us being ranked this year

The pass coverage was fine, sure there could of been more pressure, but they only had three pass coverage blunders, plus most of your missed tackles were in the 4th where once again they were exhausted because they couldnt get off the field

Wolfpack D is definitely better than the offense. They had shutdown the Irish running game until Estime popped the 80 yarder. If they can eliminate the big plays they will be fine.

I love Hartman! He has been great! Obviously the Offensive Line and the RBs have really been amazing, too! However, the thing I have been most impressed with, and most surprised by, have been the stable of both Young and Veteran Wide Receivers! WOW! Talk about a pleasant surprise! I know, I know... Everyone has been talking about them since the Blue & Gold game. But c'mon... That happens EVERY YEAR! We Notre Dame fans are always hyping our incoming Recruiting Class. And for that past Decade, we have been talking about how "this class of WRs is gonna be special... " It has happened once in the past 10+ years. This class, and the sophomores and upperclassmen have been great! Hartman gets to spread the ball around, and the WRs are doing everything they need to do!

When you win 45-24 playing incredibly sloppy that's a good sign.

"NEWSFLASH" I've been a Clemson Tiger fan for 45 years, and I've ALWAYS been BRUTALLY HONEST about my Tigers and other football teams. The TRUTH is, I dislike Notre Dame as much as a team can be disliked. Now for some BRUTAL TRUTH about the Irish. Notre Dame has had several great teams over the last 10 years. A few of those teams were just a QB away from playing in the National Championship game. A great QB has been the missing ingredient for the recipe of a Notre Dame championship. I know what Sam Hartman can do, my Clemson TIgers and the entire ACC have had to deal with him for three years. Sam Hartman is an elite QB, who makes quick reads of the defense, make good decisions with the ball, and has great pocket presence. This Notre Dame team has NO GLARING WEAKNESS any where on the field. I know it's early in the season, but to me, Notre Dame is a top 4 team and will make the CFP. Yes, Texas, FSU, and Michigan are my other top teams. If everyone stays healthy, Notre Dame could play in the National Championship game. The Irish are going to be VERY DIFFICULT to defeat. They are very disciplined and will not beat themselves like my Clemson Tigers did against Duke. Anyway, that's my take on Notre Dame thus far this season. Check back here at the end of the season, so I can tell everyone, I TOLD YOU SO!! GO CLEMSON TIGERS!!!!

brendon armstrong is beyond terrible.

The NC State quarterback is trash. NC State needs to get another quarterback soon because this guy runs too much and is not very accurate. There were many times where his receivers were open and he just doesn't have the vision because he's always running for his life. I believe NC State is a team to be reckoned with because they did well on defense. Fix the quarterback position and I believe that they will win more games.

The best way to address the quarterback situation is simple: Bench Brennan Armstrong and start MJ Morris because compared to Armstrong, MJ Morris does 3 things better based on what I saw last season when he took over for Leary: 1. He goes through his reads much better, and 2. He throws the ball as the reciever is coming out of his break and 3. He puts just enough juice on his throws so that they're catchable and doesn't throw it like he's pitching a fastball.

Relying on those big plays arent going to bw there when they play a good opponent. Most of the game outside of six or seven plays was a struggle. And NC State is just no threat on offense, qb is terrible. Still looks a bit like fools gold to me.

Notre Dame should be #1 every year.. They have every Catholic high school in the country feeding them talent.. Yes, some go elsewhere, but there's still a huge pool of talent for them to scarf up.. Their recruiting squad, though, seems to let them go to other schools with less "benefits".

My folks sent me and my siblings there for the higher quality of education and experience. I’m not going to do the research but my guess is many of those kids playing on that team never went to catholic schools. I could be wrong though.,
