When I was faced with this exact problem I decided to just migrate manually, which is obviously not ideal, but it also served as a way to go over nearly everything that I had and helped me declutter my files a bit. • @FromSergio

There's a few options that come to mind but I don't think they are exactly what you're looking for. You can use the local quotes plugin which pulls from a quote folder in your vault and displays them wherever you want upon command. However, last I checked this plugin didn't support a random variable. Or you can do exactly what you want but not with obsidian and instead with readwise, which is a paid service.

Would be better to see more examples and to see them in action on actual notes as well. One of the few challenges with obsidian is that there are some many dev type using the product and creating plugins, it make it challenging for common business people to use the products.

@@FromSergio thanks for the reply. I want to add specific category to my library notes in yaml format. I'm looking for a way to add this category to all of my book notes.

@FromSergio I'm not able to reorder the columns; is this by design?

I don't think it's by design, so it is probably fixed in the next update :)

I am trying to get this working and very close to what I want, but I have 2 issues not with the database, but with the YAML metadata: For my tags, I use something similar to Bryan Jenks system using emojis, database recognizes them and all good but on the folder my metadata looks weird and doesn't show emojis. And 2, is there any way to have clickable [[links]] in my YAML header when I'm reading my file ?

Hi Yannick, 1 - I know what you are referring to with regards to Bryan's emoji system, I don't however know of the problem you're describing. 2 - You cannot. Last I checked this is an active feature request on the obsidian forums.
