What's crazy is the "No quieter car" is very accurate. At one point the designers made the car so quiet that you'd go insane, so they had to hold back. This is as quiet as you can ever get. Without losing your mind.

Yup, they put in almost 300 pounds of acoustic foam, and their tires have literal foam in them, which reduces road noise by nine decibels. They had to remove some of the acoustic foam so that you wouldn't suffer from sensory deprivation.

I think the reasons for the lack of steering/lane assist are 1) these cars are meant to be chauffeured in and a professional driver would be more adept than the software, and 2) BMW lane-keeping is great, but not perfect or smooth, which would disturb the occupants

What a pleasant review of a motorcar that most will never get anywhere near much less own. Your articulate and eloquent description of the driving experience was sublime! It is so nice to hear the English language used as it was intended to convey a 'being there' experience unlike most other car reviewers. I was surprised that under spirited acceleration the engine sound was detectable and some road noise when riding over mottled pavement and expansion joints. It appears that this review occurred in California as there were many upper end cars (Bentley Continental, Mercedes G wagon, Tesla(s), among others) passing by. Thanks for a most expressive review of the Phantom!
Love your videos. Quick tip… If you slowly increase your camera shutter speed you’ll eventually find a sweet spot that stops the light flicker from the vehicles LED lights.
To me Rolls-Royce we're always up there, no competition can touch it. I'm glad to see it's still the same. Even the best Maybach doesn't have the attention to details a Rolls have.

@@Dylantuning1995 crazy that I’m looking at such a crazy variety of vehicles! I might buy the truck first and something nicer a year or two later. I have an Audi A6 that I’ve turned into a pure utility vehicle! I’ll haul sometimes 40 gallons of paint at a time, ladders, boxes of paper files, etc. I can’t hardly believe what I can fit in there! But my A6 is starting to burn a lot of oil now.
One nice touch that is noticeable is that Rolls Royce stayed with the traditional analog gauge dashboard in front of the driver and did not use a computer screen style dashboard and did not use the huge computer screen dashboard that is found on Tesla cars. Being an older person I prefer the old style analog dashboard to the computer screen dashboard and find the analog style dashboard to be a lot more attractive. So one thing that can be counted on by Rolls Royce is conservative styling, nothing radical or highly different.
I’m so glad that I came across with your channel, it really tells the feeling of that car and vibe, that I felt I indeed traveling with you in that car.
This is 1st PoV drive I've ever seen (plus I've sadly never driven a Rolls!) and it's interesting how the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament can be used to line yourself up in lanes. It seems to be really useful for showing you where the other side of the wide body is sitting on the road.

First one I saw in person was in early 2000's. The big thing the new owner was showing off then was also the umbrellas built-into the doors. I would use $400K to show off in some other way. RR Phantom makes me think of the 80's movie Arthur. Maybe because the old school, "look at me I'm rich" styling is still there. Not for me but neat test drive, though!

It's an absolutely beautiful spec. My only complaint is that the interface with all those goofy large brightly colored icons seems so out of place, like a Fisher Price kids' tablet. There should be an option for a greyscale palette. I think it would appear more classy if you could switch to that so it doesn't clash with the car's interior aesthetic.

We have a 2014 Flying Spur W12. It must be totally different from a Phantom, which I've never driven. The steering is anything but light and actually quite heavy and substantial. You could never drive it with one finger! Definitely more of a drivers car than a Rolls Royce.
