Not the Same God? - Grace and Judgment in the Old vs. New Testament

Greg and Amy answer the question “How would you respond to a friend who says she doesn’t like the God of the Old Testament (referring to the Levitical laws and God’s immediate discipline of those who break those laws) and is glad she has Jesus who forgives?”

I think there is something to be said about humanity's perception of God over the course of history and how that affects the Bible. The Bible is extremely multidimensional so I think one dimension of it is that humans relationship with God has changed over time and our perception of him has changed, and the OT reflects this.

God also judges in the book of Revelation. He also has grace in the OT (how about Noah?). 🤔

Amazing content reminding me how much I need my Savior Jesus! Thank you, Lord, for providing atonement for all who put their trust in You!

God shows His grace many times in the OT just as He does in the New, He just revealed Himself to us through Christ Jesus but in many ways like King David and ect… Jonah, plus He saves the same way through Faith, Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as Righteousness.

There is one God, and He is the same yesterday and today. It's sad that gnostic heresy still persists to this day. Praise the one true God, the Triune God: praise Yahweh. Jesus lives ♥️ and is God 🙏🏻 Christ ✝️ and King 👑

Another thing I'd add is that we can't separate the Old from the New covenant, not only because the Old anticipates the New with prophecies but also because Jesus taught the law and fulfilled it. In fact, Jesus claimed to be the God of the Old Testament Himself by saying that Abraham saw His day and rejoiced and that He (Jesus) is the Lord of the Sabbath. If we believe Jesus, we believe what He authenticated as true (the Old Testament) and the Old Testament authentices Jesus through prophecy. We're not under the old covenant but we're under the same God.
