That is a good observation, for el, most of her normal life is still tied to her old life at he lab which is so sad, that poor girl got so much trauma

Really hope you guys see this comment for the lore if you didn’t already know Hopper’s daughter that passed away was always wearing that blue hair tie that in every season Hopper has wore on his wrist in every episode and once he adopted Eleven as his own she has either worn it on her wrist or in her hair. Because she is his daughter now and the blue hair tie has been there the entire show and it’s a small detail that has so much meaning behind it

Jamie Campbell Bowers was definitely my favorite actor this season, so eerie, creepy and mysterious.

The hauting music theme played during Hopper's monologue is not original for the series but a film music composition by Mark Isham for the 1986's film The Hitcher. It is a fantastic thriller with great visual style, great mood, great music and fantastic performances by C. Thomas Howell, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Ruther Hauer.

Dude the only reason why I feel bad for Patrick’s death the most is because HE FELT IT ALL. Let me explain, he was lifted up into the air & died like Chrissy, Fred, and soon to be max, but he wasn’t in a trance. The trance is the reason why they don’t feel the pain when their bones are breaking & the eye exploding or smth, and Patrick’s face in the scene where he dies, he didn’t know what was happening until he died, and he probably still doesn’t. Jason and the gang are dressed in suits because they came directly from a funeral. the church service you saw them in was chrissies funeral. that sound on the pay phone was dialing into a modem., a piece of equipment required for incoming and outgoing calls to other computers. before the advent of the internet, you could access other computers if you had the number and if everyone had the right equipment. it's a very familiar and annoying sound to those of us who worked in data processing in the 80s. yup, i was a computer nerd, and paid a very nice salary for being one.

This is the episode that on rewatch really made me look deeper into Mike as a character. In this episode, Mike wonders that if he told El that he loved her that maybe she'd have taken him with her. Will says that it's scary to open up like that to people you care about because what if they don't like the truth? And Mike nods in agreement. But that doesn't make sense. Mike is saying that if he told El that he loved her in episode 3, that things might be different. So him agreeing with Will's statement wouldn't make sense. El wouldn't like the truth of Mike telling her that he loved her? She was practically begging him to say it back. She wanted to hear it. That was one of the biggest reasons that she was upset. She felt unloved. She felt like she didn't belong. Even if Mike can't say the word love or whatever, he can still express how much she means to him. So why wouldn't she like that? What truth could Mike possibly be hiding that El wouldn't like? I thought about it, and theorized that Mike doesn't love her. Not romantically. He still cares for her very much. But not love. That's why he can't say it. And he doesn't want to tell her that because that's the truth she wouldn't like, so he pretends like everything is okay. Which would give him a parallel with El. She pretended like her social life was fine and lied to Mike. And perhaps he's pretending like their romantic life is fine and lying to El. Which might be the reason why the show has given us insight into pretty much every other main character's thoughts at this point, but we've only gotten surface level stuff with Mike. He was pretty interested in finding out who Will was crushing on(him asking about the painting), hasn't been able to say he loves El pretty much ever, pays more attention to him than her, and is able to open his heart to Will and not El. I think Mike has a crush and he doesn't know how to handle that. Which is why he tried distancing himself from Will at first and was moping when Will wasn't paying attention to him. There's also the parallel of El being upset because in Ep 3, she is distraught that Mike "never says it" and Mike tries to lie and say that he does. But in episode 4, Will says, "I didn't say it" and Mike tells him that he didn't have to. Also, also, Mike using the words care in place of love to El. And in Will's talk with Mike in this episode, he says telling the truth to people you care about can be scary. Mike says care instead of love to avoid saying it. Will says care instead of love whilst talking about Mike but also more likely, himself.

Pretty sure it was just a writing decision. Yk have Mike have trouble say it, then at the end have him actually say it. In real life it would have a deeper meaning but the writers don’t think of everything

@@youngeeneden1594 I would agree with you. But the Duffer Brothers have specifically said they don't like to do accidents. They plan out details. No conversation exists just to fill air. If the answer was just as simple as, "Oh. Mike can't say it. But he probably will. Eventually", why not frame it that way? Pretty much every other relationship has had its ups and downs. So why are Mike and El the only ones who have a constantly failing relationship? If you wanted to convince someone that a ship was endgame, you'd give them good moments together. Not show them constantly fighting, separated, and having another character(Will) constantly in the middle and miserable. We already had an unrequited romance because of someone not feeling the same way between Steve and Robin. That plotline got wrapped up in the same exact season. So why have the Duffers decided to stretch out Will's feelings for Mike for four seasons if it's just going to end in rejection? If they wanted, they could've given Will a love interest or boyfriend in California and shown that he's slowly gotten over Mike. But they didn't do that. They instead made him fall in love even more. If the Duffers wrote out every plotline carefully, why would Mike and Will be the only exception?

@@alexinator-hh5fe they say that but Hopper being shown to be alive was an accident and wasn’t supposed to happen. The Duffers admitted they made a mistake by not seeing where a possible romantic connection could have gone between Eddie and Chrissy after seeing Joes and Graces chemistry on screen. Mistakes and accidents happen. Even to the Duffers, hell, they completely blanked on it being Wills birthday in episode 2 even though there’s a banner in the background with the date on it. The Duffers completely forgot.

@@Chrissybrit43 The Hopper thing was pretty much already speculated. A mysterious American in Russia after Hopper's body conveniently wasn't shown to disintegrate isn't much of a mystery. The Duffers also didn't say anything about a romance between Chrissy and Eddie. Just that they regretted axing her early because of the chemistry between the actors. The Will thing I could maybe give you, but the other two examples you gave aren't really examples of narrative payoff or writing. In fact, the Will thing also isn't an example of that. I'll admit that I was exaggerating when I said every single piece of dialogue meant something, but are you really going to sit here and say that Will's feelings for Mike aren't going to lead anywhere after it's been built up for four seasons and the Duffers have confirmed that no new characters are coming in for S5? Why would they have a five season buildup just for him to get rejected? Why not just give him a relationship with a random in California? Why make him fall even more in love with Mike if there isn't any plans to do anything?

@@alexinator-hh5fe oh Wills absolutely in love with Mike, Is it reciprocated? No. I think it’ll just come to light that Mikes always known Will is gay and realized that Will had feelings for him. At no point has there ever been signs of mutual attraction. One thing the Duffers definitely don’t do is fan service. Just because some people want it, don’t mean they’re getting it. Imagine, the main protagonist after winning the war watches her boyfriend ride off into the sunset with her stepbrother. Not good storytelling. Nor does it make for a “stick the landing” ending. If they had built it up from season 1, then ok….but there’s been nothing. The Chrissy and Eddie thing, there actually is an interview where they said they filmed Chrissy’s death first which they regretted as if they had the choice they’d have had them take a romantic relationship. The Duffers openly admitted they messed up and forgot Wills birthday. They said it was a “careless mistake”. And David Harbour accidentally spilled about Hopper being alive that’s why the teaser trailer showing him alive was released at all.

I think it’s pretty much been confirmed that it’s the former right? I mean, before this season I think Will could have been read as asexual, but by this point I think it’s pretty clear that he’s gay. That being said, someone can be gay and asexual, as you said!

I did not believe it either, the return of Papa. 8 was right. I swore that the Demigorgon killed him near the end of the first season, but because there was no body, it did not happen. I fell into that trap, like everyone else. Suzi's family are just plain nuts, no wonder her and Dustin get on so well. We need more of her.
