Angela, I've been driving for almost sixty years and my philosophy is the same as yours, treat the half full mark as empty and you will NEVER run out of gas. There's always exceptions of course, but after all my years of driving all kinds of vehicles, I have never run out of gas.

When dating my wife used light to decide to get gas. After learning “if you run out, in this rain, at night in NE YOU will be walking for gas. I will go along but you will walk in the rain. OR you can stop here and I will put on 5 gallons” Now she fills above 1/4 tank. Close to half.
The guys from Massachusetts were epic! Made me remember all the great road trips with the boys! All geezers now! Thank you for the vids!
She is the first woman I’ve ever seen that actually fills up like that my wife an daughter drive home on EMPTY!!!! All the time 🤨
3:35 Matt explains the route to Tom they're going to take. Tom "I got no choice but to follow you." LOL pure logic.
Nice to see a sand hollow recovery! I haven't seen one in a while. However, that heat looks stifling! I also enjoy Tom's intellect. He uses it well and working together, he compliments Matt's smarts as well. Oh, and it was nice to see Angela. She has a good personality for video.
Rhett is always cool no matter the temperature!
If the crew ever reads the comments regarding the MANY items they should take with them to be prepared... they should include some mats to lay on to protect them from hot sand, goat heads, rocks, etc.

Tom, My wife and I used to both work for a big box home improvement store and I got stuck delivering a fridge that a customer was promised that day. This was on our prearranged "date night". I took her with me and we ended up going to a town an hour away. Afterwards we took the delivery truck to a drive in movie that was in that town. My wife still laughs and said it was one of the most creative date nights we have ever had. Work can get in the way of life sometimes, but you can always find a way to make it work for the best.

Wow! Lot’s going on here! It’s been FOREVER since you’ve had to do a sand pull like that! Great job for rescuing that bird watcher lady! Tom is morr and morr like Matt every day! “Doesn’t care about gas” and takes his wife on date night in an un-airconditioned recovery in 104 degree weather! Best channel on the “Tube”
Matt, I am an 81 year old male born in New Orleans, LA and raised in the bayous of South Louisiana. I found your channel on KZread several months ago and have become a hooked watcher. Your environment is so foreign to me because of the height, mountains and dryness of where you operate. I have enjoyed your videos and have particularly enjoyed getting to know your family. Your wife, Angela is so cool! She can do anything and is not afraid to try anything. Your son has been blessed with the situation with his leg after the terrible accident. Your daughter, Lizzie, is the perfect "Girl next door" that every mother hopes her son gets to meet. Keep up the good work of rescuing stranded folks and as we say in the bayous, "Laizee le bon ton roulette" Let the good times roll. God Bless.

Angela is Tom's wife, Matt's wife is Jaymie. Matt and Jaymie have 3 sons, Rudy, Rhett, and Kolin, no daughters. Lizzie was an employee, not family.
Angela is a natural in front of the camera. You can also tell that her and Jaymie must think the same when it comes to their husband's, vehicle's and 4wheel driven..... why do we have to do this? 😂😂
101 degrees with 87% humidity & 72% dewpoint....a soaking wet miserable hot mess here in Arkansas. AND I do asphalt for a living! I envy y'all with your low humidity & your snow in the winter!..lol 😊Great video as always
Nice to see Tom's better half. Yep, featuring your gals balances the MORR experience.
This episode just reminded me that under all the fun fabrication, the real buzz is just helping people out.
I can't get enough of the sound of the Morrvair under a load.
Another Great video! Nice to see Tom's wife getting in on the action. She has the look of a nurse, which means her intelligence and Tom's together would be a formidable pair
Seeing all the dads standing in the water watching your sick rig tow out the jeep is just hilarious
Those folks from Massachusetts are a great example of why you shouldn't take your own vehicle on the Salt Flats! I took a rental out there and tried to clean it off with one of those high pressure hoses at the car wash. I was still dropping chunks of salt 2 weeks later in Colorado....
Those of us in Arizona can empathize with the heat going on. It's brutal out there. I can also empathize with the Seattle lady because I used to live in that area...and the side of the road is a totally different texture than that soft red sand! Hope she spotted some neat birds on her trip.
How come people from mass have a receiver hitch and a shovel, and yet people who live in or around sand hollow have neither including MORR and it’s not just the tourist who get stuck. Kudos to those 3 young men.

Snow, snow and more snow up here in New England! Actually everyone up here has hitches but no one uses them LOL
I am 67 years old and my mother told me when I was 16 yrs. old, refill at a half full tank! It doesn't cost any more to fill the tank to full than filling up when almost empty to half full, and if needed you have more fuel in reserve! Plus living in New Hampshire, with a large variance in temperatures, I will have less problems with condensation, in the winter with icing in the fuel lines and filters! Thanks to her advice, I have never run out of fuel or had a fuel icing in the winter months!

Matt here is a new product for you! Gym floor tiles(3/4”x24”x24”) soft foam mats. “Matt’s Mats”. You could do black or yellow with Matt’s off road recovery on them. I use 2 of these, easily storable in the back, to crawl under cars. Not worry about goat heads, hot sand, gravel, or pavement. Not the best for mud though. If you produce them send me a set. Anyway I love your content and your crew
✨🙏🌊💙🌎💙🌊🙏✨... when you're son mentioned that you guy's need a way to trek faster through the sand🤔... consider this...if you get a medium sized dirt bike that you could haul on the trailer with the vehicle you're attempting to rescue... you all could utilize it for instance... when you go to a location where you're not too sure the exact coordinates to do a patrol of the area and map out a route for your rescue vehicles...even in the sandy areas you could trail the rescue vehicles....or... consider training everyone that is operating the camera to also operate a drone,so that way you don't need to trail the more difficult rescue on foot.. also the drone can be used to collect data, like mapping out best route or simply finding the costumer quickly in a rescue 🙂... hope you all stay safe out there, thanks for the adventures.... PS I'm only making a suggestion for a safer, quicker recovery.. thanks... happy trails....
Wow, 9psi on those gigantic tires and it's still not always enough! That's absolutely nuts. I can't imagine driving around on the road at 9psi either. We run 11 out on the sand on Cape Cod and I don't like to drive on pavement at all until I air up if I can help it. Then again, if you were airing up and down every time you did a job at Sand Hollow you would probably go through valve stems like tictacs. Love the channel, keep up the great work!
@NBSV1
Жыл бұрын
With the big tires and a relatively light rig they can get away with low pressure. And, those tires might have a stronger sidewall that better supports at low pressure. I think they also don’t drive particularly fast when on pavement.
Good work all around but really impressed with Tom’s recovery, he hooked it up really nicely with the bridal and everything.👍

13:00 I was worried they weren’t going to get that Lexus hybrid out. I’ve worked on those things for years and if the computer doesn’t see the accelerator being pushed it turns the drive wheels into generators and under a tow situation it becomes more of an anchor. I was glad to see the driver giving it some skinny pedal to tag along!

Tom, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I wonder if snowshoes would help in the sand :)
Yes I hear you about the octane rating because they typically use 10% ethanol so the real amount of octane is slightly under 79.2 octane gasoline. While 91 octane is 81.9 gasoline octane with 10% ethanol = 91 octane total. First they took out the lead, then the additives, then add 10% ethanol, oh the humanity! Interesting tip: having trouble keeping your go-pro steady without all the expensive accessories; well just grab a chicken "live" and strap the camera on its head, it naturally keeps its head in a fixed position. So steady that it is actually better than the most expensive equipment on the market. 📹🐔 true info, fact check. Now you know. 💫 Have a good week and count your blessings amen. 🙂👍👌👋
