I shared my health condition with my friend who is part of the project. He directly told the manager and citing my health condition, they have offboarded from the project. So never tell your secrets to your friend and don't discuss anything personal in office.

Why does that matter in the project as long as your performance is not affected? Moreover you can inform Hr. This is illegal and company might face huge consequences.

But the director, program manager says that if I am in the project, then it is a risk to the project since I might take long leaves and cannot take care of deliveries. These would cause escalations from the client's side. At the end of the only money matters to them. Whatever the HR or the organization portrays that they are employee friendly blah blah blah are all gimmicks. HR will care the least about anything other than billing from the client. So learn to maintain a professional relationship with colleagues and avoid discussing personal matters. Your colleagues are your competitors. They are waiting for an opportunity to pull you down.

​@@Tech_with_AD He is, or should I say was, a friend. I knew him for over 12 years. The irony is that he was working along with me in one of my previous organization and I taught him the intricacies of work but he back stabbed me. I will never forget this in my life.

This is very true. I had a peer tech lead with whom I shared the problems I faced with my counterparts. He listened over a period of time and built a case against me with the management…. to progress his position. I later understood that he made me responsible for all escalations although it was some vendor tool issue. But he used the info I shared to show me in bad light.

We should be more careful while sharing our future plans/Strengths /weekness with other colleagues who will have same designation and experience like us, because they always think how it will impact their growth in the team

Anand , this is valuable and kind of leading me into right path. This piece of conversation reached me correctly when i was thinking whether i am talking so much loosely for the sake of coming out of my introvert nature. This might be ordinary thing for a lot. But I would have never thought out of this. In my world i never imagine these kind of situations. Some comments also very new to me. Though i am not the person who like to think in this term . Balancing is the key here. After all entire life is a trade off. Thank you so much for this valuable mentorship. I can't find a mentor so far because of my introvert nature❤ Friends, lets not lose our positivity towards world and balance necessary practicalness also. But how to hide i really want to hide my plans but my friends were so smart and always trick me with their question and get it what they want to know after that only left for me is regret. I think hiding things also a tough skill when i saw people hiding their plans i get shocked how that guy achieved this skill that i dont.

Hi Monisha, This is an interesting question. To be honest, I don't believe in the reasoning that just telling someone about what you are doing is the reason for losing the opportunity. The core reason may be something else. Unless some of those people are decision makers or are involved in the business/ onsite decision making. Family and outsiders don't play a role.

Agree with it. Please avoid saying your salary even to your siblings. I had very bad experience with my own sister and decided not to reveal salary/FDs/Investements/properties/Onsite plan/Higher studies etc. etc.

This is one of your best videos. I totally agree with all your points and I would like to add 1more. If one shares his/her career plans with friends/others, they might start fake adulation (Chane ke jhaad pe chadhana) and the person's brain would start feeling as if they have already achieved the goal and actually lose focus. Some people are very cunning and they might talk you into revealing your plans/secrets.

Indeed should be careful and share only with friends who can understand and suggest something better or can give a better perspective with their experience. Colleagues... Should avoid.

Anand - that point about sharing plans of higher education with friends.... Isn't it the manager's fault to get influenced by secondary information ? Because that means such manager will get influenced by anything someone says. Even if nothing said by the person. I don't agree with this. One point i will say - Don't add colleagues as your FB, Insta etc friends. (Tbh don't use fb, insta at all)

You are correct and wrong at same time most manager get influence easily in india especially they always wanted to know what their employees doing and and insecure So thats managers fault usually most manager trust boot lickers instead of hardworking employees in their team. There are exceptions.

I am working in UK in IT for last decade and one thing that's different here is people treat others with respect but are work colleagues and not friends. I don't know in India how come people are friends at work. The other guy needs same promotion or onsite opportunity that you want. The bonhomie everyone shows at work in India is all fake, treat coworkers as colleagues and not friends.

Do you believe in jinx after saying something to your friends then you lose that opportunity
