It's so great how they stage it too. Instead of Otto just being in the classroom for the sake of the joke, he's sunbathing ontop of the bus directly across from the classroom window.

So many jokes (good ones too) within just 54 seconds. Early Simpsons was like a machine gun of comedy.

@@IffeOnline In my opinion, a happy failure is someone who’s fallen short of societal expectations but is content with their choices and would make those same choices again. Skinner is obsessed with exerting authority even though he’s not respected by his superiors, peers, subordinates or even his own mother. I think it’s pretty clear who’s living their best life between the two of them.

@@IffeOnline The answer is completely dependent on your definition for “failure” One can be seen as a failure to society, but not have actually failed at the goals you set for yourself. Hypothetical Example: The musician sleeps in the street, but he achieved his goal of having people listen to his music, and for him, that’s enough to be happy. In the end, the road to happiness is dependent on introspection, not societal expectation. (Unless they both coincide in your situation)

Anyways, you’re the societal viewer and hold the prejudiced view that anyone on the streets must have a drug dependency in order to deal with their reality, which is not the case. Ending up in the streets can happen to many of us for a multitude of reasons. Also, you assume that people on the streets that do use drugs are not content with their situation, that is also not the case for all of them. Some are actually confortable living the way they do. All the talk of wanting to be "challenged" is shown to be a lie when she can't even handle Bart knowing things she doesn't. Lisa - Bart's cheating! Teacher - How? Lisa - He remembered the answers! Teacher - So he learnt something in school and then used it in a test? Lisa - AHHHHH I CAN'T HANDLE THIS!!

This episode must have single-handedly destroyed Brown's international reputation among non-US viewers. I grew up assuming Brown was a shit school before learning it was actually part of the Ivy League. They must have lost a number of prestigious international students thanks to a bunch of Harvard alumni's private joke. 😂 😂

Same for Alabama University in that episode in which Ned Flanders assumes the world has ended after a massive flood in Springfield and when seeing the Simpsons passing by a boat, saying "it seems to be easier to get into heaven than the University of Alabama"...
