One thing I always loved about the heyday of the Simpson's was there would be jokes that were funny at face value then you find out years later there was a second underlying meaning. That scene when Homer's in hell being force-fed donuts is a good example. There's a somewhat famous book called Homer Price where one of the main themes is an unstoppable donut machine. That show was true genius for about 5 or so years in the early 90s.

I remember in the episode "Bart's Friend Falls In Love" that Kent Brockman said the same thing about how Santa Claus would have a lot of health issues if he was real.

I can't get over Homer passing up the chance to meet George Harrison for a plate of brownies. Wow.
