Not Always Sunshine And Rainbows!!
In todays video we opened the silage pit. In my mind it was going to be brilliant silage with minimal waste but it didn't turn out that way. When I opened it there was a bit of waste the whole way along the back of it. I asked and was reminded that when it was being rolled it was like a man made mountain because when the grass was coming in there was so much grass coming to the pit at once there was no time to be rolled in between. The back was vertical so it rotted over the few months it has been in because there was still air in it. It is just life and not everything is perfect.

Hello John.hopefully it's only that bit that's bad.the amount of rain it's making is unreal.i see a few pits that were opened this year the start of it wasn't great but it was good from there on.its the joys of farming.

Keep the head up. No 2 years the same. Disappointing for you I know after using plenty of covers. In few weeks you will be on top of pit of good silage looking down and saying it was only a few fork fulls .!!!
