I just want to say thank you for doing this; I've been looking for a game-focused phone for a self-Christmas gift this year, and I was thinking about the ASUS ROG5 until you did that wonderful teardown on just why it has so many problems and fails so easily. The RedMagic looks much more like it's exactly what I want, and I'm glad to see it survives The Bends! Thank you for doing this!

Make sure to check network compatibility. Most gaming phones will NOT work (or very poorly) on US 5g because they are built for overseas and the US is is *different* because of course it has to be. On top of that, check carrier compatibility. AT&T won't have this on their whitelist and it'll probably be blocked totally. Verizon is CDMA and most of these phones are GSM. You'll also need to check to see if the phone will try to use 2g/3g. You'll have to see i you can get your carrier to push service over 4g/lte.late. TL;DR: check compatibility with network AND compatibility with carrier before buying a non-mainstream phone.

"Blood grooves" aren't really a thing by and large. You're thinking of a fuller, and it's to reduce weight while retaining strength.

Well… if they invent a material that is 100% transparant, scratches at a level 6, with deeper grouves at a level 7, but is shatter resistant, AND they decide to call that glass, then the line would get pretty old

@@qazplmm632 some of the phones and the devices he tests use plastic screens. One recent phone used sapphire screen, and didn't scratch until level 8. The test is also useful for debunking Crapple's bullshit "sapphire screen" claims. What's useless here is your comment.

Those finger clicks at the start have become synonymous with a big 25 second advert in my cognitive behavioural operating system. It's funny.
You need to include a fan intake test where you let the intake suck in some dust or dandruff or something to replicate real world tests.. maybe some hair but basically if it can get stuck or cause damage via the intake. I have a feeling someone will go to the beach get some sand in the phone and turn the fan on and something bad will happen.

I am amazed they can fit a fan in there with that little bulk. This may be the ideal phone for someone who wants a gaming phone but doesn't want something that advertises "I am a gaming phone" in neon lights to everyone around you on the bus.

I don't have much experience with headphones (and much less wireless in-ear ones), so I can't say too much about those, but those VPN ads are quite misleading (this one less, but some claimed nearly all data is being send unencrypted, which is just not true). Those permanent high discounts might also not be perfectly legal, atleast in some countries.

Out of all gaming phones, this one peeked my interest. Especially because it has no tear drop or under-display camera and symetrical bezels. Now I gotta wait for the Xperia 5 III to be tested and I pretty much have my next phone set. Love your tests! They always help me decide on my next phones.

That's pretty damm good phone, maybe best of the year. (Especially since you can turn the fan off) It has a headphone jack, no notches/cutouts, solid battery and an amazing display. Definitely would consider it, if I was in a market for a new phone. (I will wait for phones with underscreen camera though, however long it takes)

It has a solid build quality but a warning to you from a RedMagic 6Pro owner... The software side of things is a mixed up. I find myself having to go into settings constantly to select "Force Stop" for KZread after a few hours of usage. For some reason it chugs and can even crash if not force stopped every once in awhile. That's my biggest issue with it, and the launcher for it is pretty average, though it can be changed with a different launcher.

only this year's gaming phone are like that. Go check out his older videos on gaming phone, most of them survived. Generally speaking, gaming phones have better specs (screen refresh rates, 90,120, 144 and now 165hz, etc) and weaker cameras. Some have a few more wifi antennas located within the phone to offer more stable wifi connection.

From what I heard the "bloodgroove" thing is an old wives' tale, the fuller is just to remove material from the blade to make it lighter without affecting it's strength.

True, but it did have the added bonus of allowing the user to pull out the blade a little easier when you ran someone through.

@@proxyhx2075 As a fellow 6Pro user, do you experience a bug with the KZread app? Like does it chugs after awhile, eventually crashing after long sessions of usage? I got around the problem by heading into the apps settings and selecting "force stop" every time it starts chugging. Open the app again and it solves the issue, though only temporarily.

Until I saw this, I could only imagine a gaming phone being only used as a secondary phone, and not a primary, as the two previous gaming units you tested did not survive the bend results... These type of phones would be rendered useless with a durable case, given the possibility that outside of "stick ons" - there even ARE third party cases available!
