Super hot in Nashville for 10 years. It's like somewhere between a Gretch and a Tele. They stay in tune.and.have that intonation like a Tele or a Gretch..They were around 1800 street price but that's been a few years.

Ya... those prices! *sigh* thot I found one for a bargain once on Craigslist - $800. All I had to do was send a down payment via Western Union to ensure the deal... blah blah blah - and realizing I had a scammer, naturally the deal was history, much like my dreams of ever owning one! LOL

I've never owned a Duesenberg but friends who have swear by them. This guitar reminds me more of an arch top like the ones Gretscheck and Gibson produce. I've got to say this Duesenberg has a tone that sounds like it could play almost any style and excel at it. I've had a knockoff SG that had a Bigsby style temple. Had to retune after every song. I've not even seen any Bigsbys that I've tried on any guitar that was much better. This one seems to do well with staying tuned at the same time.

Fell in love with Duesenberg guitars at the 2006 NAMM show. People were great to talk to and very proud of their guitars. They showed me a custom mosaic guitar made for Ron Wood which was stunning. Tremolo is outstanding. Only problem is I can’t afford one.

That P 90 clean tone, dude, that was so smooth and just rich sounding. The only thing I could say is that semi hollow spruce kills the sustain but if you are looking at an instrument like this, sustain is so low on the bar compared to just very rich sounds. Probably the cleanest and richest sounding instrument you have to date. If you are playing country or some blues rock , holy moly this is the guitar to own for that stuff.

My wife got me a Starplayer TV Outlaw for my 50th. I can say without hyperbole it is the finest musical instrument I've ever played. It's a distillation of everything I like from any other guitar. It's got a Fender Scale, Gibson radius and a set neck. DB was spot-on with the trem - it's so smooth I play the theme to "Better Call Saul" all day long loving those subtle warbles. The neck is comfortable and every single part is solid and you can feel the design intent as soon as you touch it. I have a bunch of guitars, more than a healthy collection. I looked at quite a few of them (Epi Dot, Gretsch Electromatic, and maybe even the Les Paul Special) and I'm pretty sure they won't get played again because the Dusenberg does what they do much better. EDIT: Just to add the neck is PLEK'ed as well.

I keep adding guitars but always those on a budget! I tuned into this video because I do not have a double humbucker guitar yet. My most recent favorite guitar however is the Kramer VT 211s. I was excited to find one in a gray color where they added a periwinkle pickguard. I was shying away from this guitar because i wasn't excited about the colors that come with this guitar. But I love the gray with the changed pickguard and I'm adding Dove inlays to the fretboard that is maple. I love this guitar, it sounds wonderful and plays great. Can you or have you already done a video on this guitar? Thank you for making a living having so much fun! It's fun for me to watch you. I also have the Yamaha Pacifica and intended to add the alnico pickups which came in from China. The key reading on the pickups is five can 4K. A little low so I pursued another alnico guitar. This Kramer guitar came a long and really satisfies me with the sweet resonance that it has. Thanks in advance for doing a review on the Kramer VT 211 s 🤗☺️

I own a Starplayer TV. It is truly amazing. No doubt. Don't forget they PLEK each guitar in the factory, no dead spots, no high frets, just perfect. And you can set the action quite low. Their recommended action is 1.8mm on the low E and 1.5mm on the high e, which is very doable given the PLEK'd fretboard. It's pricy, but if you have it, it's worth it.

Commenting before watching. I will watch though! I got my Starplayer TV about 6 years ago. It instantly became one of my most played guitars. The Grand Vintage HB is a great pickup and the tremelo is without debate, the most reliable and responsive on the market. I rarely have to tune this guitar more than minor adjustments. With the Domino P90 in the neck, it is extremely versatile.

It's stunning, it should have been named "the Deusenberg Grand Opulence".. when l saw it the first time two days ago that name just immediately came to mind, it was black decked in gold...very drool worthy!! However the overdrive tones to me were aweful.. the clean were amazing.. trying to use this as a rocker is like using a limo at the 1/4 mile races...it's just not in it's element. Another great job Sir Darrel.. lm sure with other pickups it could do some hard driving but as is? Country, blues, maybe jazz and the like would do this work of art justice.. your Tele description was spot on. Thanks!

I have the exact same guitar. Bought it new in January 2020. I wanna share my thoughts about it, maybe it helps someone. What I like: Excellent quallity instrument, excellent customer support, really nice tones, looks amazing, attention to details, PLEK'd from the factory, having a double action truss rod, the vibrato is insane, lifetime warranty, really solid case. What I don't like: I find it really hard to bend compared to my other same scale lenght guitars, with same string gauge (elixirs 10-46). Some people say it's because of the vibrato system, idk, I played a ton of gretsches that have a bigsby and the same scale and the tension on the strings was nowhere near. Another contributing factor to the bending difficulty is the fret height. On the website they say they're 1mm tall, I think I measured mine and they are around .90mm tall (they got leveled etc). I'd say they are pretty short for jumbo frets. I'm fighting the guitar a lot sometimes, the string simply slips from under your finger when bending unless you press real hard which is not desirable. This, combined with the greater tension makes it more difficult to bend. I switched to 9-42 for the first time ( I preffer 10-46 on all my guitars) to make it a bit easier, but I kept breaking the high E string right at the bridge saddle once a week or two. I contacted Duesenberg, thinking there might be an issue with my saddles, even though I made sure there weren't any burrs or anything, they sent me a new bridge no questions asked. Didn't really made much of a difference unfortunately so now I'm using a regular 9-42 set but with a .010 high E. The hardware is nickel plated, which gets dull reeeeally fast. The middle position sounded great in this video, but for me it was unusable, really muddy. It's trying to emulate an out of phase strat type of a sound because it splits the humbucker and flips the phase on one of the pickups if I remember it right. I modified mine to have the classic middle position. Overall, it's a really nice guitar that sounds great, I can live with the nickel plated hardware, and got the middle position sorted out for my needs, the bending issue can be solved with a refret, but I won't take it that far, at least not now. It's not my main guitar anyway so I just take it as it is. If somebody is interested in some sound samples, I have a bunch of videos on my channel using it.

How can a guitar be nicer than this Duesenberg. It looks as a Gretch pimped up for a billionaire. I'm in love 😍 Thanks for this lovely upload 🙏

I bought a Duesenberg after having received a nice bonus from work, and I took my time in kicking the tires of several high-end guitars, including all Gretch guitars. Simply put, the Gretch in comparison just could NOT compete with the Duesenberg. Plus, the Bigsby has nothing on the Duesy's trem system, it's pure butter, oh my God. Best $2800 I've spent in a long time.

the Duesenberg has the same distance from the first to the 22nd fret. Due to the small distance between the strings, the Starplayer is very stable in tuning. I bought mine in Germany in 2014 and together with the case it was €1000 cheaper than today. At that time I still thought Tom Bukovac is a master guitar builder with Polish descent who works at Duesenberg. I then learned the truth in Wacken.

I've been a fan of the brand for quite some years now. Even the prices are high you get what you get, their that good. Actually my dream guitar is one of those but the custom one.

Feels like the lovechild of a Gretsch, Les Paul, and Strat. A Gretsch for the aesthetic (kinda has a similar thing going on and the sound of that trem unit, a strat for the physical look of the trem arm kinda and the scale length, and aan LP for the body shape.and the pups are the kinds of thing one might find in LPs (but a mix). On a side note, humbucker in the bridge, P90 in the neck is a great pup combination. I have that in my Yamaha Pacifica. my Gretsch is my main (a 6118t) so I like this a lot. Too rich for my blood, and hard to get here in Australia anyway, but my Gretsch feels like it was built for my hands so I’m good.

Lol, got a sweetheart of a 6118t, too... ❣️. Still, would fancy a Mike Campbell signature .. alas, I cannot emotionally reconcile the $$$ with "made in Korea" (and no, nothing wrong with that, ..I got a number of real nice Korean made axes .. just Not at that price point). Meh 😕 ..* l8r edit: yes, I know.. they are "asembled" in Germany, of Korean made parts.. AND they're plek'd.. Still 🙄

Wow it's really something. But, at the price it is here in Canada you ought to be able to flick that switch and it plays by itself and you can tell it what you wanted to play.
