    Ok, I have been following you for a while, and I LIKE your teaching style. If someone doesn't like how much you talk, it's your channel and they can go find another! I appreciate your efforts to convey the info you do and I can see how hard you work on your English. I could NOT learn German or express myself as well as you do and I am always impressed by how well you speak in English. Thanks for sharing your art and taking the time to learn a different language! You could certainly tell us a German word for each video of an art supply you are using if you wanted one more thing to do!

    Luise, you are amazing! Your English is fantastic and anyone that corrects you or attempts to tell you that your wording is incorrect, without your request first, can go right ahead and try speaking another language that is not their native tongue…. Let’s see how well they express themselves. I too am bilingual, I speak Greek also, but my native language is English so my Greek expressions are not always on point… Oh well… 🤷🏼‍♀️ Also… I love your banter, I love that you include us in so much of your life … you rock! ❤

    I like the idea of black and white photos with colorful backgrounds! I have a tiny photo printer that i use for photos but it is color do i'm going to try to incorporate neutral pages in my journals so my photos will stand out better. Really like yhe multiple similiar photos made into the pocket. Another great idea! Your creativity is awesome and i'm really enjoying this series. Good luck in getting officially moved and your craft room done and established! I grew up in a house that was never totally finished. And now i'm growing old in a duplex that is not totally finished. Life is an adventure! Enjoy.❤❤❤

    Hi lovely. I love your photo additions in your journal. The part where you in the photo peeped over the perfume card made me laugh because you looked very mischievous for a moment. This matter of you saying "in my eyes" while it isn't perfect it is almost correct. You could say, "to my eyes", " in my view," and "in my point of view." You are beautiful in my eyes! This is correct and also true. You are certainly a genius. I wondered how you could make this journal work and you have. Lots of love from me in Aotearoa. Xx❤

    I had this corky idea when you said, near the end of this video, that you wanted to draw the eye away from the obvious rectangle. I have a bad habit of putting one something shocking, unusual, not fitting into most of my journals. Ok so you said to draw the eye away/ I immediately thought of the very colorful flower papers you made. You've got white/beige/little rust or orange accents and then there are the ones with really bright colors. I don't remember what you called that printable set but I thought that you might back your picture strip onto that printable and in some places put a rather uneven wide border and in other places put a barely there border. The eye would see the photos, but also the bright flowers, sort of, and force a focus on the edge of that page for a moment longer. I know, weird, off the wall idea. I just thought I'd tell you what skipped through my brain when you mentioned something to draw the eye away from the obvious.

    Hello Luise! UNDER and BELOW have similar meanings, so it is natural to get them mixed up with each other. UNDER tends to be used when something is covered from view, like "I am UNDER the bedcovers, " or I am UNDER the umbrella," or "I found the cigarette papers UNDER the floor,". But BELOW has to do with referencing one point with another with a downward direction, like "the temperature is 5 degrees BELOW zero." or "Sascha lives one floor BELOW mine", We wouldn't say in English, "I am below the umbrella" or "I am below the bedcovers." This sounds strange to the ear. Nor would we say, "the temperature is 5 degrees under zero" or "Sacha lives one floor under mine" When considering it like that, UNDER has a sense of proximity to what is covering it , like it s touching (but that's not a strict meaning, because we can also say "I feel UNDER the weather" and not "I feel below the weather," which doesn't make sense. Yes, the weather isn't touching, but it's a figure of speech when one doesn't feel in good health or is sad or depressed to say "I feel UNDER the weather"). On the other hand, BELOW has more a sense of space or distance from the point referenced, like "The Titanic is thousands of meters BELOW the surface of the sea." The point of reference is "the surface". I hope this helps! Also it is OK to say HOW ABOUT or WHAT ABOUT. The nuanced meaning is "How about this?" conveys an action. "What about this?" conveys an object. Honestly, this is truly academic minutiae and we are getting into Linguistic PhD weeds. Most people use them interchangeably without losing any meaning. So here is an example where you can relax. Sometimes, there are native English speakers who don't speak English properly, how about that?

    Gosh, I am so happy to have you!! I understood everything, thank you so much! But.... Is then for example when it comes to layering one scrap UNDER the other one?

  • @lightbulbnirvana

    @lightbulbnirvana

    Ай бұрын

    @@luiseheinzl Yes. You layer one scrap under another. Just like you layer one scrap OVER another. One doesn't really say. "I layer one scrap above another," because to say that would seem that one layer is floating and there is space in between the layers. Above and below has to do with a range of space in reference to a fixed point, above being upward, and below being downward. Where UNDER and OVER have to do with an object's position in reference to another object. We could have wallpaper on the ceiling, and under the wallpaper there was a mural painted there 100 years before. The mural is UNDER the wallpaper, but technically it is farther ABOVE the floor than the wallpaper is (by a micrometer!), it is still under the wallpaper, not above the wallpaper. And the wallpaper is covering OVER the mural. To be honest, I never really considered this until today. But it seems right to me. I am not a linguist, but it is fun to discuss the meanings of words. I am pleased to help because I know how much you want to improve your English, which is a million times better than my German any day of the week, for sure! Chüse!

English accent & different words makes it more curious to watch and learn. Very entertaining….. and yes ‘ in my eyes’ is better here…. Coz of what you are doing. Clearly there are English speaking viewers who may not have heard “in my eyes”, but that does not mean it is not a common expression in English. Every time you mention this one person who misled you, I feel like apologizing for all of us. Did this person SAY that they are an English professor?? You speak two languages better than some speak just one.
