Nostalgic Pokemon Music, but it's only generation 3 (Hoenn)

Музыка

To keep the series going, we are traveling to hoenn this time, a generation I only had contact with the remakes and slightly played on the advanced of an older friend back in the day, never had one myself!
To admit, when it comes to the Ost's the third gen does not reach the newer generations in my opinion. It's heavily based on orchestral instruments and components and sounds mid aged, but there are definitly some exceptions and the remakes did a pretty good job.
Whatever, it's rather about you're opinion on the third gen Ost's and there overall absolutely enjoyable.
It's about nostalgia, I got u. Remember that time is limited boys n girls!
Love y'all.

    It still feels like the jump from gen 2 to 3 was the biggest leap forward in the franchise's history. Coming off of Crystal, booting Sapphire for the first time felt magical - everything looked so vibrant, so alive! With the trumpets, the water routes, the sharp green/blue color palette and the heavily emphasized political themes around nature and climate change, Hoenn remains as one of the regions with the strongest, most distinctive personalities in the series. All this to say I sobbed like a little bitch when the Verdanturf theme came on.

    The dopamine rush from unlocking the Regi's caves with the Braille included in the manual, farming exp from ubers in my friend's bases every other day, meeting up outside the street we all lived in to battle via the wireless adapter... and everything around that; Naruto, One Piece, Yugioh on TV, anticipating every new episode. Doing homework on the way home together with your friends so you had more time playing outside. The summers were so vibrant, the winters full of adventure. No political, religious stigmata or whatever; everyone just got along and was connected through the same interests; playing games, sports, messing around. Childhood really was magical.

    @@gigisan9533 Just came by to say, absolutely. And it's actually not even close. I see a lot of people say Pokemon Black & White are their favorite in the series. I just don't get it. As an early Pokemon fan, if you name any game in the series up until Gen V ironically, I won't fight you on it. But man oh man, there is just some magic they struck with Gen 3 that was never touched again. For me, the only Pokemon game that even came CLOSE was IV because I think Pokemon Platinum is absolutely incredible too and easily my 2nd favorite in the series. It also has a heavy dosage of that magic. But back to Emerald, you get the mix of the good stuff of Ruby & Sapphire as is tradition with the "3rd game of the generation" thing they do, you get AWESOME endgame with the "Battle Frontier" which until that point with Gen 1 and 2, there wasn't even anything remotely close to that substantial to do after entering the Hall of Fame. Your legendary Pokemon encounters & areas are off the charts cool, with stuff like the Regi-pokemon? Reading scrambled puzzle braille text and figuring out you need Relicanth and Wailord? Then you have the storyline with Team Magma and Aqua interwoven, and Rayquaza taking center stage along with Steven taking a backseat to Wallace. Love it. And lastly...of course, why we're here in the first place, this goddamn soundtrack. It has so many bangers that it's hard to fathom. Basically every single town, route, encounter, themes for Magma / Aqua and legendary Pokemon. Nailed every single one. I find myself humming the theme for Littleroot Town randmly every now and again, ALL these years later. It reminds of being curled up with hot chcolate and my Gameboy Advance SP on a winter day, maybe school was canceled due to snow...not a worry or care in the world. Bring me back man, give me the sweet childhood innocence back. Being an adult...it's just so goddamn hard sometimes. ; ;

    It's interesting how this music still feels fresh and charming to me, while for younger people it might sound old and dated. I feel the same about the sound track of the second and first generation, while people older than me will find that still very charming. I guess what I want to say is that time moves on and that this music functions as a time capsule. Everytime I hear this sound track, all these vivid memories from 5yo me come back to life. I'm sure it triggers people in similar ways. No need for discussion on which generation and game has the best soundtrack. Everyone resonates with their own time capsule that is the pokemon game that is linked to memorable moments in their childhood

    You know it's crazy how technology can be frozen in time for some, and instead look archaic to others. I grew up on the NES-sounding beeps and bloops of Gen 1, so this was a *huge* jump forward. I remember being surprised to hear this from a handheld device. And because of that experience, to me, the soundtrack sounds intrinsically good (full stop) -- even *without* the qualifier that it was done with some steep audio hardware limitations that the devs obviously wouldn't have had on a GameCube, Xbox, or PS2. I often read modern commentary on handheld games from this period being written with all sorts of qualifiers. Ex: "Despite the beeps and bloops of the GBA's dated hardware, the composers managed to create music that sounds, at worst, passable, if not occasionally enjoyable." And that is usually written as if it's intended to be praise. But to me it reads like derision. Just shows a real gulf in personal experience. I understand that these writers aren't really technically wrong, but they lack the memory of having gotten the game in 2003 and been like, "WOW!"

The characters were real and each city was blooming with life, I gathered my team and rose through the wonder. Littleroot town hits me the hardest, and sometimes I think it would even without my childhood memories to emphasize the feeling of… nostalgia? It feels so bittersweet in it of itself, as if the game knew I would be coming back and how it would feel to hear it all these years later. Pokémon emerald was the first Pokémon game I ever played. My grandmother went behind my parents back to get me a Gameboy advance SP and the game for my 6th birthday, breaking my parent's no-video-games policy. I'm 24 now, 25 in May. I still have that cartridge, and boot the game up every once in a while to try out some new challenges and raise some Pokémon for myself in the Battle Frontier. I've reset the game hundreds of times and currently am going through the frontier again to get myself a gold medal in all facilities with only 3 Pokémon. A Flygon, a Starmie, and a Magneton. Flygon's been one of my favorite Pokémon since I can't even remember when and when I play Gen 3 competitive formats (namely just OU) I always try to use a Flygon on my teams. Maybe this video isn't as nostalgic to me as everyone else, as I still fully enjoy Hoenn in every single way possible, but it is a playlist of songs that take me through my life none the less. The more things change, the more some things stay the same.

    Oh wow, this really hits me with nostalgia. I remember getting this game when it was still relatively new, I guess I must've been about 7 or 8 at the time since Ruby and Sapphire released in the U.S. in 2003. I think I got it for Christmas. I had so much fun with the Pokemon Contests which was a new concept back then, they didn't have that back in the second or first gen games. I loved the music and the visuals, the music in particular has a special place in my heart. It's just so soothing and makes me happy to listen to. I remember being impressed with the reflections in the puddles when you ran over them lol. Thinking how advanced gaming technology and graphics have become nowadays, I find it laughable my little kid mind was blown by reflections! Thank you for sharing this, it was a welcome trip down memory lane. 🙂

I miss the good old days when I'd play emerald for the thousandth time and endlessly try to catch a feebas and still not get tired. The cutscene where rayquaza descends from the sky gave me a chill down my spine EVERY SINGLE TIME. And when sootopolis goes back to normal and the soundtrack comes back in, it makes u feel like u just had a really good cry :')))

    OMG!!!! I love love love Pokemon Emerald!! I never got a chance to get to my hands on Ruby or Sapphire, but I did for Emerald. Finding everything out without internet was fun lol. I've beaten it so many times growing up! Last time I beat it, I was already was like 7 years ago in my early 20s. Then when they introduce ORAS, you know I had to get it!!! It was nice to see the new touches with Omega Evolutions as it was new to me. However, this game will always remain my favorite Pokemon. These music!!! Always bring childhood memories. Hoenn pokemon remains my favorite. None of the other 3 legendaries can beat these in Hoenn. Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre. I stopped playing Pokemon games after the Hoenn region. The new Pokemons after became less interesting to me that I lose interest. Thanks for sharing this!!

    Gen 3 had the best music. Still the only game where you can dive underwater. It was the best years in the anime as well. Hoenn in the anime had Ash Misty, Brock, May, Max, Team Rocket, Lance, Gary. Brock and Misty were still in the show and Pokemon contests were born.

    The amount of nostalgia from this game. I was 9 in the beginning of 2010. We were poor and mother decided to move to the Bay Area from the Central Valley. We went from hotel to homeless shelter to motel. Sucked a lot for her as she had to figure out what to do about her and the 4 kids. No man in her life. Only things I took were my clothes and my DS a friend gifted me. Surprised I didn’t lose the damn thing, but Pokémon Ruby took me away from the worries and pressure of life at the time. I was happy, while my mom was stressed out of her mind. Forever grateful for her. Though we didn’t have much money, she managed to save enough to get me Ruby. Red Rescue Team a year later.

    :’) I’ll never forget playing my first ever GBA game… it was Pokémon Emerald in the mid 2000’s. What attracted me to it was the fact the cartridge was green when I saw a friend with it and different from all other GBA games. Here I am nearly 20 years later and still the biggest Pokémon fan! Pretty funny way of being introduced to the series!
