I love this video because a lot of people focus too much on thinking they need to get stronger to get better at climbing, but this showcases that if you're not at a very advanced level of climbing, technique is FAR more important. Sondre is already a great climber, but you can clearly see his limiting factors are certainly not strength-related. If you're in your first few years of climbing, focus on actually learning to climb. You'll get stronger naturally, but more importantly you'll learn the technique, intuition, and muscle memory that it takes to climb hard routes. If your focus is to get better at climbing, then strength training should be more of a supplemental afterthought.

Core strength plays much less of a role in calisthenics than people think (and climbing too, for that matter). Sondre's strongest point is his pushing strength, especially his absurd shoulder strength in bent-arm moves ; of course his core strength is good, but that's not where the money is made.
The hardest problem I’ve ever done is a v7 and I don’t think I’m that strong (in comparison), I can barely do 1 arm pull ups with support from the other arm. But seeing this, it shows how truly understanding your body and technique is so important.

When you trust in God and cast your cares (worries, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts) upon him, they will be NO MORE! Know that there is power in the name Jesus Christ! His name casts out demons and heals! The world is wicked, evil, and of the devil. I too, was a wicked sinner of the world before I opened my heart to God. I am living proof of God's work and fruitfulness! He is an active God who hears the prayers of his! God's children are set apart (holy) and righteous. The devil is a liar that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy; that includes your relationship with God! Open your heart to God, repent of your sins (he will forgive you), and let him direct your path. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands and purify your heart, lest you walk with the devil and follow him to hell.

9:11 i'm only partway through but this is amazing. i'm a beginner who hasn't started yet, and getting to see basically a training session but also how to THINK through these and problem solve, AND just to get familiar with everything is sooooooooooooooooooooo invaluable. (that's excitement.) i'm afraid of heights (falling, not all heights in general) and decided this would be a good way to push myself. but also because i found that i LOVE watching people climb. i've seen vids of competitions and stuff. nerve-wracking, AMAZING, just incredible. so i wanna see if i can overcome my limitation. strength is obviously needed, so i plan to get that beefed up then start. but vids like these are such inspiration. and that the teaching is very laid back and.... idk collaborative? i do worry about not being good enough, for a teacher to not be annoyed. i know a good teacher wouldn't show that and would be understanding and patient but..... well, not every teacher lives up to that ideal. i want it to be fun, not an exercise in inadequacy.
Thank you so much for such video, Magnus! Damn, forventa ikke deg her
Amazing!! Sondre is a beast and a massive inspiration for me. Been following him for ages!!
the power and strength in both of these guys, amazing
Magnus' grip strength is just off the charts!!!! So impresive.
This just goes to emphasize what a top tier athlete Magnus is. Great collaboration!
Just found out your channel a few days ago and I can't stop watching! You are hella inspiring even for a couch potato like me lol! Keep it up Magnus.
This video kicks ass. love the hand stand techs. Started handstands in middle school, and never once was tought to balance with fingers. bruh
Great video Magnus! It was awesome for you to both learn tips from the other! :D
Magnus videos are amazing. He always finds a way to make each video feel fresh and new. Have no strict format for the channel allows all kinds of ideas to fit in. As long as it's fitness adjacent it always belongs. He's such a genuine person, I've never cared about athletes much. But he ls managed to inspire me to pursue and complete fitness goals i would have never had the confidence to even attempt
Great video Magnus. The quote “the reward for training hard is playing hard” stood out to me. I feel this for my training in running. I train my butt off and then I can go out and have amazing adventures “playing” in the mountains! Similar to Jocko Willink’s quote “discipline equals freedom”!
What a couple of wholesome dudes. I wish I knew people like them.
Climbing is really so different in terms of strength. It’s really all in the ability to grip, lock position, core, finger, and other things. Bodybuilding or calisthenics really doesn’t make you good or better at climbing, it helps a little in terms of people who don’t do anything but not as much as people I think assume it would help.

the dude literally climbed a 7a on his first day. I takes people years of climbing to reach that level. how is that a "little help"?

@Mircea L Considering it was NOT his first day climbing and he was already was doing 7A's when he met Magnus, I think that's a bit of a distortion, don't you? He says so 1m40 in, it's not exactly buried somewhere
Magnus literally wasn't kidding when he said he's got some amazing content coming up in the next couple weeks a while back. Crushing the content!
Incredible to see how a small technique change in the handstand, focusing on using the fingers, made such a difference!
For someone like me who has weak grip strength and no real climbing experience, it is insane to see the amount of maneuvers Magnus and other pro climbers can do.
I really appreciate this video which involves comparisons and communication
Just seeing how freaking SMOOTH magnus' moves are in comparison to his STRONG guests, makes it very clear how important the technique is. Magnus is like flowing through the wall at a constant speed, his guests' moves are very jerky and chaotic. Videos like this, motivate me to come back to boulders that Ive solved multiple times before, just to try to do it as smoothly as possible.

For real... The 8A+ he did he made it look like a v1.

And finger tip strength.
Definitely one of the most, if not the most impressive athletes you have featured on you channel!
hes definitely super strong but bet it takes a while to develop stronger grip suited for climbing. The way magnus can hold his whole body on with 2 or 4 fingers is amazing
Amazing video guys! I'm starting climbing and I realized that my arms are getting stronger to maintain the handstand, but now the challenge is to get out of the wall and find the balance... Thank you for all this tips!.
to see Magnus breeze through the 8A using the harder way to do it, and then this beast of a man fail gives me a new found respect for Magnus
Really enjoyed watching you together giving tips each other, this viking seems like a nice person :)
