I mean, casual racism still occurs in Norway. (not necessarily in a direct way, but in an indirect and behind your back type of way) Discrimination used to be huge in the workplace back in the day, but now it's more inclusive. There are some places where discrimination is still a problem in Norway, but hopefully it won't develop to the same degrees as other places in the world.

@@joninator7858 I'm not necessarily against monarchy, but the monarch actually needs to be allied to to his own people and do what is right for them and the nation. To preserve the north European ethnic group that gives a living definition to this nation. That's the problem, he would rather see all of Europe become "multicultural" and "diverse" just like the USA. (not getting ridd of the "merchandise" was a mistake) As if Norwegians are not diverse and cultural enough for their own homeland, their own folk home. The current monarchy of Norway will rules over the ashes of a deracinated and alienated people. Removed from their own heritage because now it belongs to everyone. As if he had any right to just proclaim this to be that case. Yet if i went down to Africa and implemented the exact same policies in reverse he and his lickspittles would call me racist for doing it. He has no moral ground to stand on and brings only ills to the people of Norway. He is not better then the 169 individuals that sits in parlament. For they do the exact same thing and they are very public about it. As i said, he is not worthy for he cares not for the purposeful misrule of consecutive governments and future of his own people that he is supposed to be an example to and rule over. I cant take him or any of them seriously.

Not sure who is confusing Norway with FInland here, but as Norways has been declared the best country to live in, according to the UN, and the fact that it is also one of the wealthiest countries, would probably not exactly make it "insignificant" :) But, of course, it is a very small country, so I don't blame people for not being able to point it out on a map.

Please, consider your words before posting them online. Norway consists of mostly Atheist and Agnostics, but also large numbers of Christians and Muslims. I know several people of all these faiths and opinions, and I therefore find it sad that this is your view on Muslims. Perhaps you could try and get to know more Muslims? The best way to get rid of fear like that is confrontation, after all :) The last terror attack that really shook Norway's heart was by the way done by an irreligious person, and it was his hatred for immigrants (especially Muslims) that inspired his actions. Thus, we see the importance of stopping extremism on both sides, and learning to live with one another - which makes our king's message even more relevant :)

Indeed - and, just like the king points out, Norway consists not of just one type of people, but many different kinds of persons :) I am glad that I have a variety of friends with different religions, looks and opinions. Then none of us belong anywhere - after all, we all have ancestors that have migrated at one point in our lives. According to scientists, the early humans walked out from Africa. Yes, I am exaggerating, but how do one decide who is to be Norwegian and who is not to be? Is it a certain number of generations that have lived in the country before oneself? I belive that if you feel Norwegian, live here and wish to contribute to make your home a increasingly better place to live, then you're in :) No Norwegian living in Norway today is "all Norwegian", in the sense that they do not have family members or ancestors that came from other places. If you have a lot of anger, hatred and prejudice within you, I encourage you to try and get to know as many different people as you possibly can. Challenge yourself by meeting someone who is different than you. Me, for example :) I highly doubt we look the same or pray to the same God. Love to you - remember that there are people out there who care for you, some that you have met, others whom you haven't met. I hope you are alright. Peace to your heart.

In general we don't have any prejudice towards anyone based on where they're from, who you are is what matters. Like everywhere there's some "bad eggs", but generally speaking I think Norway (and the rest of Scandinavia) are some of the most welcoming to people from other cultures.

Most people these days in Norway, do adhere to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Norway, but are non-practitioners of the Christian faith. Second comes people who affiliates with nothing. The rest are minority groups within other branches of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, etc. Like someone else said, Norway is a secular state. Which means that church and state has been separated. In the old days, before Christianity was introduced to Norway, the belief system was more around Old Norse/Norse Paganism. And it still lingers here today, in folk tales and in mythological creatures, Norse Gods and just is engraved into our culture. As a kid, I remember my family would say ''there goes Thor with his hammer'' whenever we had thunder and lightning.
