Follow my instructions can loosen up the screws on the pump step-by-step very carefully drain out that pump. Spray it with WD-40 and blow it out you might be able to save it

There is no pressure adjustment on these pumps. The screw on top of the red cap is not for pressure, it's to fine tune the shut off pressure switch. If your pump is cycling adjust the shut off by turning that screw. It should shut off a second or two after you shut off your wand. If it continues to pump longer than that, you'll build up too much head pressure and pop the valves or the diaphragm which will cause leaking into the motor. There's a sweet spot you'll find. One other note: the contacts on the pressure switch are thin, when using, try not to turn on and off while you're spraying more than four or five times a minute. More than that it'll heat up and prematurely wear out those contacts. If needed, you can buy those cheaply online. Hope this helps

This just came to mind- If after all mentioned adjustments are done and you still have cycling problem, you probably have too much restriction after the pump. It could be line size, length or spray tip. Easiest would be to go with a bigger tip out of your gun. If all else fails, you may have to go to a smaller pump.

OR, you can just do what I suggested and have full unrestricted pressure and not have to worry about squeezing the trigger too many times and worry about having to order more parts Again to try and keep your pump working.

I've had one leak into the motor assembly and start rusting. Bubbling liquid is coming out of the electric wiring area. Have you fund a decent alternative pump?

They have an upgraded pump they haven't updated pump which is about $300 they know that their pumps are garbage and they will not upgrade you to the other one free of charge this is your best solution. The slot that you cut I ended up driving a Barb by thread nipple into the crack after I drilled it can use some JB Weld to seal it then drilled the top of the fuel cap and run a hose from the nipple into the top of the cap with a zip tie on the inside to keep the hose into the tank so when you let up onto the trigger its recirculates it back into the tank. Or you just constantly hit on and off with a remote

Good video Russ, thanks for sharing. My friend's is acting up, it's about 3 years old. Do u know how to reassemble the rotor/brushes ? If the bottom end cap would come off it wouldn't be too bad, but idk, can't tell if that cap comes off. Thanks again, take care. - Leeroy

no need to take that end cap off. follow the video and put one screw back in to keep it from coming off. 3 years, that motor may be just a rust bucket inside and may need to just be replaced. be sure to update your pump and motor with the tips i have provided to ensure a longer life out of them.

@@russgalgiani2261 Here's what I ended up doing to get it running again, wasn't very difficult. He's used it several times I think, only issue was a small leak out the top of the pump, hopefully he's fixed that. I let him borrow some RTV. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nnWptqVrlrndeag.html

My pump is dead. It makes noise and I tried to prime it by feeding both the suction and output with a garden hose. This is for a 282785 31 Gallon Boom sprayer. The label on the pump is in black and white and red. I don't know if it is like that due to sun damage or what but I don't see any model like it...there is no part number on it. Any ideas? Thanks for the video.

Unfortunately it could be a lot of different things. You have to make sure that the motor shaft is spinning the pump shaft. Another thing is that if it is the quick connection fittings going to the pump head they have O-rings and if they suck air they will not pump water. Put a constant supply of low pressure water in the inlet side of the pump and see if it squirts out the other side. It's possible that the motor shaft is not spinning the pump shaft there for it will not work. Your options are to replace the whole pump, or just the pump head itself, you may be able to replace the whole pump with a Harbor Freight 12 volt pump

My Northstar 3 gpm pump pulsates accassonaly and it is frustrating when we're spotting weeds from 20' or more with the wand that shoots a solid precision stream when you pull the trigger to full valve open.....I am contemplating bypassing the pressure switch to continuously energize pump and adding a mechanical pressure regulator as a "relief valve" to return fluid back to tank when wand is shut off.... Does anyone know if that would work? Idk? I'm not sure?.... The smaller pump that came on the 25 gallon tank never pulsated.....I think it was a different type pump from the NS.... Impeller or rubber wheel with wipers? Idk? Thank's in advance for any help and btw we love the type wand we have that can shoot a solid stream.... And spray from small to large cone diameter..... Please forgive my lame terminology.....

What I did for a pressure relief the slot that I put in the housing I ended up drilling that and putting a small Barbed fitting in there and hooking a hose onto it and running it back through the top of the fill cap for the tank. It works great now. Definitely bypass that electrical pressure relief switch. That is your problem you will have about 90 PSI after that

@@russgalgiani2261 Well I'll hop on the bus Russ, sounds like a great plan Stan...... Fifty ways to spray your weed Lee and let those those suckers free..... Can't wait to try it.... When "pulsating" is this why the pump runs continuously after a short time and the spray seems like it is foaming ? Thank you !

That sounds more like a vacuum leak on the suction because you're sucking air instead of sucking liquid
