You think Kate ever gets "Is your daughter 1/128 French?"
French (Létourneau) : from Old French estournel 'starling' (Late Latin sturnellus, a diminutive of classical Latin sturnus), with the definite article l', hence a nickname for a chattering, gregarious person or a metonymic occupational name for a birdcatcher.

I'm half Black and white, and same. I've had people assume I'm Latino, Pacific Islander, Indigenous American, South American... It's wild in these streets.
This is very real. As a half asian living in Europe, I work at an asian supermarket and people often just assume I'm the son of the employer or start speaking kantonese/mandarin unprompted. It's very weird ngl

I’m the most fucking white passing half Asian of all time. When I tell people I’m half Chinese they’re often surprised, but I don’t speak Cantonese so what’s even the point if I can’t do covert ops

Just recite the Cantonese version of the bing chilling meme without any "bing chilling", and then when they try to engage a conversation with Cantonese, speak in the most sophisticated and elegant English ever.
I'm half black, half Italian (give or take, also don't want to do an Ancestry test) so I got like mid-tone skin, and all three times I was asked if I could/why I couldn't speak Spanish it was Latinos asking me. I ain't even bothered, I just think it's funny 🤣
This man has an elongated facial structure and narrow angular jaw. He is not beating the French allegations.

I’m half Korean, ngl I get people who think I’m their race. Nearly everyone who admits it, say “honestly thought you were, Black/Indian/Chinese/Australian/etc.” I think it might be more genetically towards my grandmother side, where people just feel comfortable around my sister and me, and they feel some relatability towards us and my grandmother

i have an english last name but i've not a single drop of english/british in me according to my DNA. but that's cause my great grandfather on my dad's side was adopted. if ryan isn't actually french then one of his grandfathers on his paternal side must be adopted.

It's possible it's a name that's been Gallicized (French version of Anglicized). This could happen due to the census person not understanding the name and it being written wrong in census (people couldn't write their name if they couldn't write) or if the name has been purposely Gallicized due to people wanting to fit in/camouflage. One reason for wanting to fit in/camouflage would be a Jewish person wanting to escape persecution for example. I can't think of any English name that sounds like LeTourneau and Jewish people generally only modified their name slightly so your theory is much more likely than the idea I would usually use when doing genealogy. Thanks!
