The Giants Causeway car park is free. Its the visitors centre that charges a tenner. Its set up sneakily so its hard to notice, but you can park and just walk past the vistors centre and not pay a thing.

Just came across this. My late dad was born in Bushmills , though I was born in England , as he joined the army in England. I still have many relatives living there. Your wander around the town brought back good memories of holidays there. My great uncle was a security guard at the distillery. And my grandad was a builder, with his own company along with my uncle. I remember many holidays during marching season, and my uncle and grandad were Orange Men, from the local lodge. my uncle played the drum in the local band. My grandparents house backed onto the river bush and he was a very good salmon tickler ! If you know, you know 😂 It used to be a place where every one knew everyone else..but looking at where you walked around, it’s much bigger now ! 😊

From Portrush I'd recommend taking the Lough Foyle Ferry from Magilligan Point. It will take you into County Donegal which is in the Republic Of Ireland. Donegal has some of the best scenery and beaches on the whole Island. Going around the beaches, ports and seaside towns and villages, you could easily spend a full week enjoying all it has to offer. I live in Tyrone and just love Donegal. It has that slower pace of life and scenery that is good for the soul.

All the flags on the streets are for the 12th July. The 12th is celebrated in Northern Ireland every year. It is theCelebration of the Glorious Revolution (1688) and victory of William of Orange at the Battle of the Boyne (1690). On the 11th night of July we light a bonfire , The tradition of lighting bonfires throughout Northern Ireland on the night of July 11 is believed to have started as a way to commemorate the lighting of fires on hilltops in Antrim and Down that helped Williamite forces navigate through the Belfast Lough at night during the Williamite Wars in Ireland. Hope this helps 😊

The shop fronts were done in every town by the local councils to help the look of old disused properties. They often depicted what used to be in each building, for example the old courthouse in Bushmills had a Judge looking out the window. The Bushmills Inn used to be an old coaching Inn which dates back to the early 1600`s, the old tower has beautiful rooms inside it and the bunting is for the upcoming 12th of July parade which Bushmills is probably? hosting this year.

The local councils decorate the empty shops when big events visit neighbouring towns. The shops in Ballymoney and Bushmills were done when the British open visited Portrush in 2019. They did the same when the G8 was in Enniskillen and when the Giro D'Italia bike race visited Belfast. They do it so the area looks better on TV and to make it feel more welcoming for visitors

The bushmills inn, the front part facing the main road and painted whit has been there for a couple of hundred years, maybe more. The bit you see at the back all brick and stuff have been added in the last 20 years, some of it is not long finished.

My stomping grounds and gutted I didn’t bump into yous. Walking my dogs at Magheracross today and thankfully not as blustery as that. People pronounce it differently, I would pronounce it Macker-rah-cross, people from further west would pronounce it Mah-her-ah-cross. Its a small island and the accents change within a few short miles.

The flags are for the 12th of July. It used to be a lot more jingoistic and a bit 'in your face' for non-Loyalists, but it has become more of a family day now. Bushmills would be a very Loyalist town, hence the red, white and blue paint on the footpaths. 'European dishes' just means non-Chinese, though in fairness, what is sold as 'Chinese' isn't really. :)

You are a savvy fun loving couple. I rarely drink but do love an Irish coffee. I add a tiny tot of rum, whisky or brandy to my coffee especially in the winter for a nightcap to help me relax In times of stress it was always a family go to. It looks idyllic in Ireland.xx.

Prince Charles coffee, now probably known as a King Charles coffee, same idea but using Drambuie instead. You may have to educate the bartender as it's not often requested. It's my personal go to after dinner coffee.

Just a side note: you walked straight past one of the best butchers for Miles around..it was at the top of the street on the way upto the salmon fishery. You could have got your fresh burgers from there..I live 6 miles from Belfast and we travel upto Bushmills most weekends to get our meat from there..if you had gone up the straid road from Bushmills to Ballycastle there is a farm that sells goat meat and their burgers are lovely..

Hello to you both. Firstly, your videos are fantastic. Im from Northern Ireland and was one of them bikers you'd hear up there lol. Its our culture the bikes and road racing. I've been in a wheelchair for two years and only been walking with a stick one year after a serious motorcycle accident losing many bones, and brain bleeds. I know i will be on another motorbike again as its in my dna like many of us from here and over the border. All the red white and blue is the 12th of July celebrations, which is very patriotic. Yous should check out the bonfires on the 11th July. They are huge especially larne. Anyways hope yous enjoy our beautiful wee country and come back again. The mrs will cook yous a good ulster fry up when yous come back. Enjoy and God bless💯👍

I used to love Bushmills whiskey, I got hooked on it at one point. I preferred it over all other Whiskeys - now I don't drink at all after other health issues. Ireland (north or south) is a beautiful place with fantastic warm and friendly people. We did the South & West coast of Ireland 2 years ago, Cliffs of Moher, Limerick, Cork etc stunning scenery! Are you going to the south next?

How wrong you are, Coleraine is a very friendly town towards the English/soldiers etc, like other local towns including nearby Ballymoney, Ballymena and Antrim, you could have walked down the main street and no-one would have paid notice even if you had a union Jack T shirt on back in the 70's and 80's most of the town comes from a unionist background, there is an army barracks in town. No wonder English people never visited during the troubles because they got the crap scared out of them by the big events of the troubles and the headlines that were created. You would have been safe no problem.
