Boston College came back from down two touchdowns in its season opener to force overtime, but ultimately fell to Northern Illinois, 27-24. Sophomore QB Thomas Castellanos came into the game late in the first quarter for BC and went 13-28 with 3 total touchdowns and 205 total yards. NIU QB Rocky Lombardi’s rushing touchdown and 165 yards through the air were enough to pull out the win.

Northern Illinois beat us 2 years ago in Atlanta. That team is a tough, underrated team that’s not afraid of nobody.

Great comeback by BC. Still strange to me that a cornfield town has a program like NIU. So many players go to the powerhouse schools, then the big 10 schools, and NIU holds it down in the MAC

They always get the leftover Big boys from Wisconsin Iowa etc who couldn't make a Big 10 roster. Hammock also recruits transfers well.

As someone who lives in Dekalb I don’t know how NIU is here either because while there definitely is more rural towns in Illinois we’re just an average town outside of NIU

NIU the better team pretty much the whole game. BC had a lot of luck to tie it up but NIU finally put it away in OT.
Castallanos is gonna be a good one.

As long as he does his job. Also, do me a really huge favor. If you attend a BC game at Alumni Stadium (if you’re a BC fan). Don’t talk when TC’s on the field, arrive at Alumni extra early, only wear gold from head to toe, be rowdy, stand up on third down, and wear lots of sunblock.

FYI back when I was in high school (I went attended a special needs program) I was applying suntan lotion and I sort of inadvertently sprayed a classmate who was allergic to it. And yes she had an allergic reaction to it. I didn’t get detention (the special needs program I attended doesn’t do detention) or suspended or expelled. And my parents didn’t punish/ground me. They were understanding. As you know it’s not fun getting sunburnt. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

As far as QB battles its settled #1 -TC to over the position the team responded to him. #1 for BC was their life line. I think #4 O'Keefe & #1 will be a special connection in future games.
Refs tried their hardest to keep BC in that game. Go Huskies!!

Boston College fans empty as hell in the stands. For a home opener that's sad.
BC got shut out in the first half by one of the worst defenses in the MAC. Let that sink in.

This is why Northern Illinois was one of my considerations to the Big12 UCF didn't make sense to me. They did to the ACC but I just felt like the Big 12 should've been close to rivals.

UCF has the Central Florida market, a large student body, and more money overall. Money speaks in these situations.
Wouldve been a great win for BC. Sad they werent even close to prepared on that final play...FIVE players set back and not even involved in a goaline run.
