Northampton & Lamport Railway 02.01.2017

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The first outing of 2017 took me to the Northampton & Lamport Railway on the 2nd January 2017.
The main reason for this visit was to film Peckett R4 Class 0-4-0 No. 2104 working on it's last day before the expiry of it's boiler certificate. No. 2104 is seen operating passenger services along the line from various locations along the line in and around Pitsford & Brampton Station.

Beautifully filmed Hayden, really excellent. When l'm back in Northamptonshire in a few weeks time l will try to have a look at this line again as they seem to have done a lot of work since my last visit!

Many thanks. A lot of work and improvements have been made on the section between the station and the roads crossing - particularly with the signal boxes, sidings etc. I'm really hoping that in the near future they can extend the line further in the Market Harborough direction and get some more loco's to work the line. It really is a lovely little line.

Such a lovely little railway. nice captures Hayden and you had the presence of mind to film from across the field. Well done

Thanks Keith. On my first visit in 2011 I filmed from the field. It is a lovely view - enhanced on this particular day by the gorgeous winter sunshine. It is a lovely railway indeed - was nice to spend a day filming here.

Super video this. Looks like a great little railway - very much like the Whitwell & Reepham. Good job on the intro as well.

Thanks Chris. Not a very long line and nor do they have many locomotives but what they lack in rolling stock the line makes up for in character. It really is a very pleasant line indeed. If you ever stop down this way and the railway is running I highly recommend visiting. Half the credit and thanks must go to you for the intro. An excellent piece of music and great to edit clips to.

Deffo like the new intro - excellent filming in gorgeous light and very well composed 'stills' shots at the start using the sun flares with lovely background sound - am sure the folks walking the dog at 13.30 saw you filming the approaching train and stood back to not interfere with your shot, most kind of them

Thanks Ian. Half the credit for the new intro had to go to Chris and his excellent music he out together. A slightly longer version of this music together with more footage can be seen in my 2017 trailer video. It was a wonderful day to be out - that golden crisp winter sunshine made for some great lighting throughout the day. The folks with the dog did indeed step back for me which I was most grateful for - not many people do that. I have noticed that the external microphone on the camcorder makes it more apparent to both the public and other railway photographers that I'm taking video.

Re photographers noticing the microphone sadly on the whole it don't work for me and on the whole am better off keeping away from the clickers, or I get the noise of dismantling tripods and don't start me on the curse of aluminium steps. Only a few show consideration. Also the curse of the invisible videographer occurs, oh I must be invisible again with them walking in front or getting in the way while filming and of course I can't shout at them while filming.

Unfortunately at the 'Bulleid 50' gala at the NVR on Sunday all what you have mentioned came to haunt me. Many photographers had come from all over the country and congregated to the event and were either making lots of noise or standing in front of me even though I had stood waiting in a particular spot before they arrived. I was treated as if I was invisible. I was even told off by one photographer (who was standing right at the top of the path at the spot just down from Mill Lane Bridge) for standing halfway down the path near the fence, to which I rebuffed him when he came and complained that I was in the way - I wasn't blocking his view at all, he just didn't want 'people' in the shot I guess.

A Very nice film you did of our local RAILWAY. its got a lot to offer,if it had more money for the bridge to be repaired.. it could go a few more miles. Thanks

Thanks Ernie. it certainly would be great if the line could be extended a few more miles. They have done an excellent job on the Northampton end of the line between the station and Boughton Crossing putting in the signal boxes and sidings.
