I’m a Neonatal ICU RN & Lactation Consultant who assisted with hundreds of births in the OR. I adored being a part of the moment a family first met their baby. This is wonderful and amazing! I assisted in my nephews who were premature twins birth and cared for them, my godchildren, my friends and just about everyone I went to schools, with growing up. In my 20s & 30s, it almost weekly ended up in deliveries of old friends and schoolmates. It was just really lovely to be there in their happy moments. They are our ancestors and almost human. All animals deserve loving care and especially apes and primates and mammals.

@@mamabear1324 generally it's a thing with most animals that if mom and baby don't bond right away, they won't, and usually by the time they're officially separated efforts to make it happen have all fallen through sadly. They'll still be in the same troop at least til Jameela grows up, so once she's a little older they'll probably bond as troop-mates, but the bio mom gorilla probably won't see her as a daughter. Sucks but it might be better in the long-term this way, eclampsia is pretty serious and so is c-section recovery and it may be for the best she isn't worrying about getting better /and/ keeping baby alive.
