They have their own in house vet team. However, this delicate surgery called for a specialist. Gorilla anatomy is basically human anatomy, so a human specialist (ob-gyn) was needed.

I wonder how many c-sections have ever been done on gorillas. I would imagine it is very few. This wouldn't be taught in vet school. C-sections have to be done very quickly and expertly to have a good outcome.

The people in this thread is so ignorant it’s mind boggling! They force bred this poor animal that lead to this dangerous pregnancy to begin with so selfish humans can stare at them behind bars in a concrete prison hell! If This gorilla hadn’t been in this situation for the very selfish humans that put these animals here for profit because they want to profit off of their existence, and this would’ve never happened to her beginning with if they have left her in her natural environment but now they stole her out of her natural environment. They took everything away from her that was naturally indigenous to her and Stucker and a concrete gel so selfish humans can stare at her behind bars, and the zoo can profit off of her life and they use their disgusting reading program so they can have more of her that they can put on display some more selfish humans can stare at them behind bars And they landed her in the situation and now everybody wants to apply this horrible zero and he’s shameful people that are taking part in it because they all wanna profit off of her life and people are actually apply in this nurse for supporting this if you go to zoos and you applied the situation and you support animal views, there’s nothing wonderful about the story in this nurse is complicit and what they have done to the support animal. There’s nothing to read about her and the fact that she’s a nurse is a really scary thought that she’s out there helping human beings to knowing what she has done to help support this terrible zoo in their breeding program. There’s nothing great about any of these people. Remember, these animals are not indigenous to views environments. It is a man-made prison for selfish humans to stare at her and for prison zoo officials to profit off of her existence, and now she hast to have babies forced bred in captivity. Do you think that the squirrel is happy. If all those animals can talk, they tell all of us humans off. Animals don’t belong in manmade presents so people can stare at them for profit. They want to live on their own in the wild, where they were meant to be in the first place, and this would have never happened.! so many ignorant people on this post it’s just mind-boggling to me that most of the responses are from actual nurses nurses that are support this is rather disturbing

And this nurse is contributing and participating in animal abuse! If you supper zoos that’s what you are doing. You are supporting animal abuse. Zoos are concrete prisons for animals created by man not their natural habitat! Everything indigenous was taken away from them, their friend, family and environment all for humans to profit off their existence and thus nurse helped to do it

I've never understood why believing that humans are made in God's image somehow presupposes our relationship to other great apes when God supposedly made them too. Why can't two of his creations be related to one another? If it's an evolution thing, that's even better! You don't trust God enough to invent something as cool as evolution? You think that little of his abilities? Then why go to church at all?

They will always try to see if Mom will accept her baby, because she was ill and because of the baby being a premie does not help but as long as her handlers work with it will turn out right in the end. They might place a blanket with her that has the babies scent and once the blanket has her scent on it they can wrap the baby in the blanket, and by switching blankets around like this it will help both Mom and baby to become accustom to each others scent. This is a trick that’s used when introducing new pets into the home that has established pets in the home already, by the time the quarantine time is finished both old and new pets will be more accepting when placed together.

This is not the first time in history that an ob-gyn for humans has operated on a primate--others appear on various KZread animal sites--but it certainly isn't a common event. Congratulations all!

This happened in Texas. If the pregnancy of a gorilla or any animal goes wrong, can an ob-gyn perform an abortion to save the patient's life, or do they have to send the patient out of state? I am happy this situation turned out well.

Apparently a gorillas life matters more than a woman’s in Texas. 🤷‍♀️

My thoughts exactly, if it was a woman they'd force her and baby to suffer🙄 Doctors are too scared to do certain lifesaving procedures due to these unjust laws.
