This is lenient punishment. They actually shoot people who are caught watching Korean drama. And the labour prison is extremely hard to survive. From what I heard from the escapees interview, that people work until they die. They literally die while working. There is less rest, less food. Just working a lot. I don't know if these young boys will survive such harsh labour. This is just so cruel.

If you believe in any religion besides the Kim Family(they basically copied christianity but replaced it with their names for their religion by the way) you can be killed or sent to prison camps. 80 people were killed in a stadium once for owning real bibles. If it's an anniversary of a leader's death, you are obligated to go to out and cry, if you don't go out at all, seen smiling or laughing you may be killed or sent to a camp, on top of that there are "check ups" to see if the mourning looked convincing in which you're punished if it doesn't, there was once a hundred day mourning period of this. You are also demanded to hang up photos of the leaders in your home and they send inspectors to make sure you do and in the right way(no photos higher than them or taking the spotlight, and you will be fined if there is dust). An American student visiting North Korea got 15 years in prison for pulling one down and a mother is under supervision from the government for political crimes because when her house caught on fire she saved her kids instead of a portrait of a leader, her kids got burns but she wasn't able to buy their meds right away because of the investigation and her neighbours didn't help because they were scared of being charged aswell, there are cases of people dying to get these portraits during natural disasters which are heartbreaking. The more you learn about about it the worse it gets, it's just awful.

Kim will never change. Maybe if his nephew when he comes to power he can change DPRK, but else, no. If the Kim family dies or is kidnapped, the entire regime will collapse into chaos.

Outrageous! A perfect example of why people who still live in free countries should never allow the weakening or stripping of ANY rights and educate ourselves on psychology and propaganda. I hope soon the oppressed people will rise up... If it were me id rather die fighting than slowly.

This is so sad. The fear of loss of mind control is causing this insanity.

I wonder what the crowd of students watching this are thinking. Do they find this ridiculous, or do they truly believe what the boys did to be a heinous act worth over a decade of hard labor?

The officers were angry because the boys told them the final chapter and how that drama ended , it was doctor stranger

Thats illegal tho! Being a free person is a human right.. I feel sad for the young boys.

Unfortunately, anything “western” is considered illegal and criminal in North Korea. Where even watching some South Korean shows can land you possibly facing the North Korean firing squad.

NEVER EVER VISIT NK. DO NOT EVER THINK, ATTEMPT. THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS A PRISON IN JUST ONE WRONG MOVE. I feel so sad for the citizens of NK they don’t have freedom.

I don't understand why other fully developed countries don't try to take over this country? These people don't even have basic human rights. This situation is pitiful.

Dude China isn’t that bad although their government is very harsh I think the people still have a lot of freedom although not as much as America they are more safe especially in bigger cities when going out at night

@@samuelchen717mu7 A de-facto ban on K-pop and K-dramas has existed in China for several years. It's a pretty low bar you're setting by saying "people still have a lot of freedom" just because they don't get jailed over violating that ban. There are also places in Asia that are both free-er than China AND safe -- Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore (kind of). Those are probably better comparisons than the US?

@@Cosmo1093 yes but people especially in America think that they have no freedom when in really most people especially the younger generation all use vpn so… plus China is a lot safer compared to to the USA which people from the west don’t understands but other than that your right many East Asian countries when compare to the politic is better than China but in China we still have freedom!

Crash Landing On You Kdrama really depicts the life, hope and curiosity of every North Koreans 🥺🥺🥺.. their dreams to experience how it feels to live in a place where there are lights at night . What it feels to have a freedom.

Oh my Gosh, this is too much. 16 year old execution just by watching kdrama. Wow this country is the worse place that I could ever imagine. No wonder people are trying to escape this country just for the sake to have their freedom 😢.

These two boys would be lucky to walk out living after 12 years. People die of starvation in North daily. Of course uprising is a repetitive history of man kind under such oppression. Yet all these extremely cruel measures are to keep its people weak and in check from such mind by blocking what is out there and making examples of.

And the UN will do nothing as usual...

The ironic thing is, the freaking president tasted freedom while he studied abroad.

I remember the Great Leader and a great number of N. Korean audience watched a live performance by singers, celebrities and kpop idols from South Korea such as Red Velvet a number of years back. Shouldnt they be also charged for some crime as well? What hypocrisy...

The reason why they have a 2 million man army is not just the outside world, its also to protect them from a civil rebellion, its also why they keep everybody in the dark when it comes to the rest of the world, this people are truly born in the matrix, its a tragedy of epic proportions.

as long as nokor citizens think that outside nokor are the enemies instead of their government they'll probably stay like that for a decade or two. but huge technological gap will really hurt nokor overall.

China is similar to north korea. Kdrama is also banned in china.
