Unless you’re talking about the armored car driver who was killed in the robbery that these two were suspected of committing in a previous incident, but I don’t think they were ever convicted on that one.

AND the Ak is "a weapon designed for war." The AR was designed as a sporting rifle originally. But the AK was 100% funded and and designed by the Soviet government and war machine. Like the other guy said, HV is for armor-pen. It's not as good at penetration as rounds with a tungsten core or anything, what we know as AP rounds. But the entire point of increasing the velocity is to increase penetration against armor.

the type 56s the one dude used was made for 7.62x39. on its own is a poor armor pen round. let alone im pretty sure the dude used fmj and that stuff just dumps all of its energy onto what ever it hits. let alone the lapd dint wear armor and the swat that showed up wear gooned out in polos shirts and short shorts with kit on. edit. and the other dude had a bushmaster xm15 with a1 furniture on it. and that use's 5.56x45 and that can piss though basic armor lvl2 and nij3A with eas. but anything over level 3 like nij3 ,nij3+, nij4 5.56 has to hit multiple times to break though.

Idk if this is already being done nowadays but i think if the money in banks was less secure, still hard to get into but possible if the employees life is at risk, it would be better because the money is usually found and recovered to the bank anyway, and it prevents the hostages being killed in the event that it is not possible to open the vaults.
