Watching this video reminded me of the thrill of the Ducatis from years ago. Just like anything else, once you understand them and their maintenance quirks they were reliable and fast. It was hard to find used parts around here though especially motor's... that's because we were all pulling them out of junk and wrecked bikes and putting them in our micro midget racers. Those things were so blasted fast that one of the tracks we used to go to actually made a different class for the Ducatis to run in... they were cleaning up at a lot of the races. Those were the days and I'm glad I'm old enough to have experienced it. Kids nowadays don't really know what they missed. That's why I love watching these videos from Jay Leno's garage... I would love to take a tour of your garage. Thanks for keeping history alive and also showcasing the new products.

I bought my first Duc in 1978 when Mike (the bike) Hailwood won the Isle of Man TT in 1978. I bought a Darmah, which I eventually bored out and installed Imola cams, Conti exhaust, ported the heads, etc... all done at Woods Motor Shop in Pasadena. That thing roars (still) and had no problem keeping up with and passing those ol' Z1's. Still have it, still like new. I've owned five Ducs over the years, and will always be a Duc owner. I'll probably be buried in my Darmah...

I remember being what felt like physically connected to my BMX and then mountain bikes as a teen. I got a moped before I got my first car that did a whole 31mph going downhill! Motorcycles have always had an allure for me, but the same allure falls into what you eluded to about getting a bike that you're not only not prepared for, but unable to drive. The freedom of a motorcycle is intoxicating. The function and purpose of my life currently doesn't allow for one, but I love living vicariously through your perspective here inside this episode. Thanks, Jay!

Years ago my Dad took my bro and I to universal Studios. My dad rides Harley, so as kids we noticed them while driving. I saw a sportster roll up behind our 4runner. So I notified dad hey a Harley is back here... And Jay Leno is riding it! Sure enough there he was. Face squished within an open faced helmet. That had to have been 20-ish years ago. If you're wondering... Yes he waved back at us! Haha

I was in Germany, had a zx12r, ninja, coming back to base one morning, 280 miles away. Running 191 MPH. The front wheel lifted, I froze, I saw the dark diamonds of the road and sensed road rash, severe! Saved because I froze and both hands let a little loose on the grips. 5-8 seconds of flight, the front wheel came back down.. made it back to base in1.6 hours. WINGS ARE GOOD!!

I have the Monster 821 and have ridden the Scrambler. I can understand Jay's comment about the Scrambler being a fun bike to ride. At 803cc the bike still packs a decent amount of torque.

My personal favorite was a 900 Super Sport with a half fairing. Air cooled goodness perfectly suited for my central New Hampshire backroads. Also had a 1098, if I wasn't sterile before I rode that bike the under seat exhaust/catalytic converter would make sure I was by the time I got off. The thing glowed red at night. And remember, loud clutches save lives.

The V4 is the absolute sweetest 2 wheeled machine available to a Joe Blow like us, 10 years ago this bike would win world superbike. Awesome job, makes me proud to be 1/2 wapp! Damn I’m going to have to go to Tonkins now and ride one. Fantastic Job Gumbas! Viva Italiano!

It was on course to win this year, but they limited the RPM part way through the season and Bautista imploded. Scott Redding won the British Superbike title on one.
