    I went to OU and lived in Norman on and off from the mid-80s to 2012. It's nowhere near as bad as you think because you only drove around in the worst sections of town. If you kept going south, you would've driven into the Univ of Oklahoma campus, not to mention Campus Corner where all the college bars and shops are located. The football stadium is also on campus and a little south of campus there's a natural history museum and the Weather Center. Then on the west side of Norman along I-35 is where all the restaurants and stores are located. All in all Norman is pretty much a typical college town. Maybe not like an Austin or Boulder, but it's not the dump you came away thinking it is.

    As a Norman resident it has always bothered me that the old part of town (the only part you saw) has not been updated through the years. However, the city has just grown in other directions and left that part of town behind. There are areas that you all didn't see that are quite charming. And you also drove right past two of the best Mexican places around while you were saying there wasn't any good Mexican food in Oklahoma. LOL.

    LOL, That's Oklahoma's problem in general. We don't keep old things painted or preserve them. I went out to Oregon where they do and was delighted by the common architectural heritage. Here in Norman just a few blocks south of Main, whole blocks of fine old houses have been ripped down in favor of two and three story cardboard apartments. Norman's money Establishment is what you'd expect in a nepotistic, good old boy city boss run Okie town.

    Dude, you can't just drive through a town pronouncing on it without a contact, or at least picking up some tips from a visitor's center. You passed two blocks from my house and I could have told you and showed you some of the real ups, downs and history of our stuck up little petite bourgeois college town. No, Norman's not too special at all outside of having the O.U. and a little more money than the average Oklahoma urb, but we do know how to party, and we have some interesting scenes around here you missed. You drove within a hundred yards our thirty foot mural of a psychedelic freak with a ten foot long hard on and didn't see it. Stay long enough to have a local brewed brew. Get some depth on this game, man. Call me next time. I can help.

    Norman is a pretty and orderly place and there are genius landscapers here! Many gawking and juvenile acting drivers and the drivers are always hesitant in driving out into the main streets and seem to be confused at 4 ways 😆 Hey, I have a drivers license and am willing to teach , and you are far too interested in the pedestrians!

    For the record there are a lot of people living in Oklahoma that moved from Florida especially during the recession. I've been to Norman multiple times and didn't see any gangs. What is are they talking about. They barely went anywhere. Seems like they only went there to criticize the town.

    Norman's best parts are the arts festivals in the summer, jazz in june, art walk night, norman music festival, the medievil fair. But yeah on the normal day to day, there are a lot better places, and the police here are so fast to lock you up, arrest you, charge you with a crime, and even if you only have one minor traffic ticket, your labeled the worst criminal the judge has ever seen and then they just trow the book at you no matter what from then on out. it is pretty corrupt here as far as the judges, the prosacuting attorney, etc...

  • @dwightanderson8331
    @dwightanderson833121 күн бұрын

    Yeah its much better in Florida. You know hot , overly humid, plenty of homeless people, plenty of bugs, over priced housing, crowded, low elevation hope the ocean level doesn't rise, swamps, gators, that great example of urban living Liberty City, and theres crime there as well. Sounds just like every other state in America things to like and things to hate.

    People here don't really judge good based on exciting things, cuz it's all pretty much the same. Norman has a museum, OKC has a zoo, Edmond has a small amusement park. That's pretty much it really. Norman, Edmond, and Peidmont are seen as the best places to love cuz there's very little crime in those locations. That's basically what distinguished the "good" from the "bad." Overall tho, one parts just as boring as the other.
