Nordschleife Fast Lap Attempt 2004 BMW Z4 3.0i POV

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here's my second fastest recorded lap time around the Nordschleife from my first ever trip there! This one: 9 minutes 23 seconds. You can see from around 04:10 until around 06:25 i'm coasting to let the brakes cool down, so quite happy with this time. Having said that, it's not my quickest, one more lap video to come!

    Why no one seems to give the Z4 much credit amazes me, its a great little weapon as a track day car, i'm sure it would easily see off a standard MX5 which everyone seems to rave about as a track day car, I can lose my buddy in his RX8 and for not much money, if you need to do your brakes again definatly worth puting 325mm discs on the front, no more expensive than the 300's, you will need the calipers and carriers from an SI or an E46 330I of which there are plenty breaking on ebay, quite an easy job for the home mechanic. I have the mod and had no brake fade at all at Castle Combe, although they did get pretty warm!

    Excellent Joel, some nifty driving. I had to smile a few times though, most notably @ around 6.50 and then at 7.20 when you passed a Porche quickly followed by a Nissan GTR 😄 , two cars that are probably worth at least 20 times the value of the Z4. It just goes to show that it ain't what you drive but the way you drive it. Well done! 👍

    You need the bigger(325mm) brakes from Si model, compound brake disk and at least ferodo ds 2500 or RSL 29 brake pads. Nürburgring is not a problem then for the brakes.

    @@itsjoel they're such good cars for the money. I have Eibach springs on my old 04 3.0i which makes it very sure footed. But when i had a stock facelift E85 3.0si 10yrs ago, i remember that had incredible grip too. My airbag light came on this time last year but i only addressed the issue this year and found it to be a corroded airbag module connector (a drink likely spilt by handbrake years ago) which resulted in wipers and lights being temperamental. Not sure if you've had similar issues, but i found a guy who managed to repair my existing airbag module (as it's pretty impossible to recode a replacement without spending over £800 at BMW) after I took the centre console out.

    I would say the RHD version of the Z4 is much easier to heal and toe than LHD ones. The offset between break and throttle when on the brake seems to be more ideal. I find the LHD quite hard to heal and toe with my feet. Can´t get my foot position right.

  • @itsjoel

    Interesting

  • @FarideLadak

    @FarideLadak

    The only thing I noticed myself is that a wider shoe sole makes it difficult to heal toe as there is not enough clearance between the footwell, accelerator and brake pedal. In other words, no dress shoes for me at least. I’m assuming that detail between the Z4 and Z4 M is identical. Try changing the shoes you are wearing when driving.

A face lift 3.0si low miles and good condition will be around £8000 A 2.5si facelift around 6,000 A 2.5i facelift around 4,000 A Pre facelift 3.0 in great condition around £6000 Prices seem to be strong for the 6 cylinder models. There’s an explanation for all of them. The red light in the middle is a faulty sensor. The yellow light in the middle is the brake pad wear sensor, however I had literally just replaced the brake discs and pads before this lap. Lastly, the yellow light on the Rev counter simply signifies that traction and stability control are off. I’m not silly, don’t me so quick to make assumptions next time!
