Nordschleife, BMW M3 GTR, Hans-Joachim Stuck, turn by turn commentary + video enhanced + captions

Спорт

This is a classic video and it can be found everywhere on the net. It's an absolute must-see, if you love the Nordschleife or want to learn the track. Watch Hans-Joachim Stuck carve through traffic in his BMW M3 GTR on his way to a record-setting lap, and hear his insightful turn-by-turn commentary.
This video is a mashup of two other videos, listed below. I have mixed the engine and gearbox noise very loud (the way it should be IMHO), which makes the commentary a little hard to hear, but I've added subtitles so you can can still catch every word.
Sadly, the video quality is not good - not on any version of this video that I know about. I don't think a high-quality version has ever been available. I did what I could to help it - mainly boosting the colors a little, and cropping the image for modern 16:9 screens.
For the video and the engine/transmission sounds, I used "BMW M3 GTR on Nürburgring"
• BMW M3 GTR on Nürburgring
For Hans' commentary, I used "Nürburgring with BMW M3 GTR and turn by turn commentary with Hans Stuck"
• Nürburgring with BMW M...
Thanks to these uploaders, the filmmakers (whoever they may be) and thanks to Hans-Joachim Stuck for a great drive and great commentary!

Not to take anything from uploader (thanks!) but Hans Stuck was the father of "Der Strietzel". Hans Stuck, in his time, almost a century ago, being just as much a real legend as much as his son Stietzel was in his time. The latter of which I as a teen and young man in the 80ies and early 90ies enjoyed so much. And 12 years ago even got eye contact with (big thing even for a grown up man). Still don't get it? Hans Stuck = Legendary Grand Prix race driver of the 1930s, driving the Auto Union Typ' C and Typ' D monsters and post war famous sports car series, etc. Hans-JOACHIM Stuck: The race driver concerned in this vid. I think Der Strietzel needs no further intro.

This man casually went out on the ring in 2004, probably for the hundredth time with BMW’s M3 GTR, this time with a camera, having no idea that he was becoming immortalized as a legend to an entire world of nerds looking back with nostalgia they got from a game that came out a year after this, and that he basically became famous 15-20 years later for TOTAL OTHER REASONS from his gleaming racing career. Amazing. There was no youtube, no clout chasing. Just a man a car and a camera. I can only imagine what a beautiful clear day this was in Germany to go out and do this. The atmosphere. He had no idea!! It was just another run! And yet this is still the most legendary video ever. So beautiful and ironic.

  • @raffriff42

@@tylercouture216 In some cars (and all race cars) with manual transmissions, you can move the shift lever without the clutch by releasing the throttle momentarily, moving the lever to the neutral position, and waiting for the exact moment the engine speed matches the gearbox speed before moving into the next gear. This saves wear and tear on the clutch. I attended a driving school (Jim Russell) and we were taught to shift that way. In _this_ car you don't need to lift the throttle; the ignition cuts out with perfect timing so you can just 'slam' it into the next gear. That's the 'quick shift' Mr. Stuck was talking about @ 2:55

Striezel (Hans Joachim Stuck) was driving F-1 in the 70s... And this video is from 2004. He was 53 years old at the time, and kicking the asses of much younger drivers. He was pretty good in Sportscars Group C (World Champion together with Derek Bell in 1985) as well plus him and Röhrl kicking Ami ass in TRANSAM and IMSA, but he's always been a legend in DTM (and other touring car championships), especially on the Nürburgring.

There's this incident of an R35 GT3 in the 24Hr race flew of the track the same way Peter Dumbreck in the Mercedes CLR has it in the 1991 Le Mans, unfortunately unlike the CLR, the R35 incident claimed the life of a spectator, whose damn young to go that soon. That incident with the R35 GT3 is the reason the tracks were less bumpy than before, imo this is not the R35 drivers fault
