Why the audio of wacken concerts always sucks in the mix?

The last songs sounds cool imo. And prior to that isn't bad either. I was at wacken 2007 and I remember that the intro of Dimmus opening song Progenies of the Great Apocalypse sounded like fucking shit. But that got fixed as the show went on. It's on youtube and the beginning of that clip sound alot better than my cloudy recollections. If you want to hear a great sounding wacken concert on youtube, I think there are plenty, but I can recommend that one, or Immortals from the same year. Though both was released as DVDs, mixed, mastered and perhaps slighly edited after the show. At the festivals there's just one hour for clearing, rigging, and the (not so thorough) soundcheck on stage. In this video, even though there are close up mics, I'm missing the punch in the toms and I think I can hear some BD trigger slapback(?) bleeding through the mix, possibly through the overheads(?), So I'm kind of courious if this was edited, mixed or mastered afterwards like the DVD made from Dimmus gig in 2007.

yo that is crazy, I listened to a Nordjevel album the first time today and thought "wow, their drums are exceptionally good and accurate, sound kind of familiar though" and now I realize it is dominator and I am like "yeah, makes sense that it's this good"

Great drummer. He did great in Dark Funeral. The only thing that sucks is that the drum bass sounds like shit or maybe it’s the drum triggers 😅

He is good but not the best.
To those saying this is bad, something is very fucked up with the audio. The guitars keep cutting out and the drums are thin. I've seen this band twice live and they are without a doubt the most powerful, overwhelming band I've ever seen. They opened for Marduk and they stole the whole show!

Yeah really this band as musicians really sucks except for the drummer!!! And they won't even feed him!!...My guess is the other band mates are beer guzzling potheads...and our drummer is a "speed" freak lol

De que hablas, se escucha con madre, el doble bombo se escucha brutal, la guitarras y el bajo se distinguen bien y la voz no queda opacda por los instrumentos, me parece muy bien balanceado todo.
Tut mir leid wenn ich jetzt etwas erbost klinge: Aber MEINE FRESSE! Wer macht bei euch das Mastering? Habt das irgendwie ein Praktikanten machen lassen oder wie? Das klingt einfach nur voll dahingeklatscht und scheiße. Die Gitarren klingen dermaßen matschig, und einer von den Gitarristen hat wohl starke Probleme mit seinem noise gate bei den ersten oder 3 songs. Und die Drums von Dominator klingen 0% nach ihm. Diese geklacker von seinem triggering klingt als würde der gegen plastik treten. Ich wette das es live nicht so scheisse klingt wie hier im video.

I think the drums themselves sound pretty good but it's that annoying clicking sound from the bass that messes things up. Really interferes with the drums.
