I meant they're great in music. I absolutely don't mind their lyrics, even Tom Araya stated that the lyrics don't interfere with his christian beliefs. In some interview he said that they were supposed to scare people in Hollywood or something during early years of the band.

I saw this band at the age of 16 back in 1986. I can't believe my mom let me go. About 20+ years later, she somehow saw a youtube video of Slayer from that time, and said, "I let you go see THEM!" Yep, you did mom, and it was chaos. Infants/virgins/goats were sacrificed and somehow we all made it back alive, not sure how.

I remember back in 1991 / 92 , Tom said in an article, possibly in Metal Hammer, that in Hell Awaits he would often not actually say words for the faster lyrics and just spout gibberish and no-one would ever notice. Managed to meet him at the '94 and '00 Glasgow Barrowlands gigs, hell of a nice guy. Some ups and downs musically, but they were the formative band of my youth in the 80's and 90's and very directly influenced the culture I would go in to, the friends I would make and the experiences I had. Thanks for the memories guys.

Surprised at how negative most of the comments are. As someone who hasnt listened to or watched a whole lot of Slayer, this is really impressing me. Sure the mixing could be better and the crowd is lame, but its a beyond airtight performance. They're tearing shit up!

Shitty for you guys cuz they fuckin' Used to play loud, fast and just cold as hell. Always spot on, this show is a good example. Buy a big ass plasma with about 1000 watt surround sound then watch all the good sounding live shows. I feel your pain my young head banging buds. But yes, well put, I'm bummed out too. Never again will the world watch them shred the stage, R.I.P. Slayer.

The first time I saw Slayer was in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom, on the South of Heaven tour. Motorhead opened. It was deafening and complete chaos. That was epic Slayer.
