A dragonfly landing on the laces at the end was a nice touch. I have the mars red 001s and was at first worried about dirtying them, but they look better covered in trail debris. They're the best trail shoes I've ever ran in.

Got 55 miles section hiking the AT in Rocksylvania. Love 'em. I replaced the shoelaces with LockLaces and they work perfectly.

yeah my Norda 001s are awesome. It'll be interesting to see how your new pair will end up as you finish the trail. Ever worn the 002s?

Haven’t used the 002s yet but will likely train and race in them this winter

Love the 001 too. What socks do you use, or did I miss that in the gear vid? And where is the puffer from?
@Sean.Haworth

In the last gear vid I went through my whole pack. I’m using Darntough “tactical” socks and just picked up a pair of Darntough “running” socks. Puffer is a Costco brand :)

how did you find the midsole held up (especially at the heel)? altras (4 pair of lone peaks) were completely compressed after 200 or so miles. topo ultraventure and runventure were completely compressed at around 500 miles. if the midsole holds up fairly well until 1k miles, i’m sold.

Great question! I found they go through a few phases. I think they were pretty done at 900mi. But if you include pack weight, town miles, etc… that’s still 1k Miles. I think they will last wayyyy longer if just used running / by a lighter human.

How do you find sizing for shoes for these long hikes? I've heard from long distance hikers that they size up sometimes up to two to three sizes! Do you feel that that's the case for your feet and the swelling? Much love from Vancouver BC. Rootin' for ya!
@Sean.Haworth

I started with my usual size and removed the insoles to create space as my feet swelled which worked great for me. Not for everyone. Nothing more personal on a hike like this than shoes :) swelling is gone and I’m back to normal shoe size and insoles in.

- How did you train the dragon fly to land on them during the parting shot ? Definitely accurate about the light color verses dark coloring of the shoes upper. Conversely, if wet, a dark shoe will dry faster, but for summer hiking I find it best to have cool feet.

you ever consider using a opsack and bumping your hard canister uptrail to where its required?

I used an opsack from Campo to Kennedy Meadows where bear canister requirements begin. Carrying till requirements end around Tahoe.

On sizing - how much room do you have at the front of the shoe?

I size up a half size from most brands. This leaves me just a little wiggle room.

What is the brand of jacket you are wearing?
@Sean.Haworth
15 күн бұрын
No name jacket. Cheap. Ultimately don’t recommend. Good color/shape and does the trick. BUT quality of zipper and baffles are sub my standard. I needed a jacket last min and couldn’t get mine from home quick enough so I ordered a cheep one. It is what it is. I should have planned a little better.

Just really expensive. $300.00 is too much for me. I can purchase 2 pairs of Hokas or Altra for less than that.

I hear you on the price. I talked about this in my first video on the nordas. $ per mile come out same or better for nordas. If you need to buy 2, 3, or 4 pairs of Hokas to cover 1k miles which is a better deal?
