I'm glad the pope corrected Norah on the type of blessing being offered . She is supposed to be a professional but asks an incorrectly worded question to which the pope gently corrected her. He also directly confronts the type of journalism that is filthy and ever lying. A direct rebuke of USA media outlets.

I am very much skeptical of our media. Always. However This interview was very balanced. This interview was real and Pope Francis was straight forward and honest. My family are in Rome twice a year for a couple months at a time and we found this interview to be very very real and authentic. Norah was as real a journalist I have seen in years from CBS. I’m kind of stunned there hasn’t been a Jesuit previously. They’ve been the scholars and educators of the Church for centuries. That’s really surprising that he’s the first.

Two things to keep in mind: The Jesuits were only formed about 500 years ago, so have only been in existence for about 25% of the church’s history. Also, since the Jesuits were formed, about 90% of the popes have not been from religious orders like the Jesuits, Franciscans or Benedictines. most of them started out as regular priests at a church, then became pastor of a church, then a bishop, then a cardinal, then pope

Yes, they even made an entire show on the concept of what children say. It was called: "Kids say the darnest things." Personally though, I think such concepts are sensationalized. I find that both adults and children are a mixed bag. Both say intelligent and silly things depending on the context. Kids though often down have maliciousness behind their statements - at least less commonly in comparison. For example, an adult claiming that a representative of a 2000 year old tradition can be summed up by one statement is both silly and perhaps malicious. It seems the child's statement was honest and sincere; whereas the other one is attempting to use an innocent child's statement to push some agenda. Very sad.

He’s also my favorite pope because he has more closely followed in the footsteps of Jesus than most of the other popes of the past few hundred years. I have a lot of respect for many of the other popes, but pope Francis has come the closest to emulating Jesus in his words and his deeds.
